I know you guys will understand.....

We had to put our 21 year old cat to sleep today. We were up all night last night with her. The vet said it looked like she had a stroke. She was unable to stand or sit up on her own. It was just so sad. She was originally H's cat and he is just devistated. We have lost other animals over the years but she was his Baby. I know it will get better with time. But evern the Dog knows something is up she said her goodbyes when we lest and she is moping around something terrible. We really can't get another pet as a companion for her. We have 2 bearded dragons but they are not companionship for her. It is so hard to get someone to watch the dog when we go out. We only have 1 couple H's best friend and his wife who will take care of the dog for us when we go away.  Well I will stop rambling now I am so tired from not getting any sleep. If you got this far Thanks for listening to me ramble.

  • I'm sorry. I know how hard it is to part with an old friend. My dog was 18 when I had to put her down. Heartbreaking, but I know I did the right thing. It was time.
I'm sure your kitty was so grateful to have you both as a living, caring family.

So sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine how hard it must have been after 21 years. Kitty must have had such a great long life with lots of love from you both. Keep that in mind; that you gave him a wonderful life!

  • So sorry for your lost baby.

Don't rest the decision of getting another pet on the few times you go away.  You can always hire a pet sitter, and not rely on friends/family.  If your heart says get a companion for the dog, then that's something to consider.

But I agree with the other posters....21 years is an amazing life.  I hope my kitties can have that much time too.

     Hugs!
