Should I change my workout?

I have been working out regularly since December.  This is actually the longest I've gone w/ working out so very excited. I do kickboxing 3-4 times a week. I do CKO which is a very strenuous workout.  It includes bag work plus push ups/cardio/mountain climbers and various floor work like leg lifts and crunches and squats.  During the workout I'm dripping w/ sweat and heart rate is up.  However, I have noticed lately that I'm not really sore anymore the next day.  Which I guess is a good thing but feel like maybe I need to change my workout?  The other day on Saturday I did a different activity and I was really sore on Sunday.  I really enjoy this class and I absolutely hate working out  at a gym so I don't want ot change it. Am I wrong ot assume that as long as I"m sweating and heart rate is up that I'm ok? I need to really work on the food part as I've only lost 7 lbs this month. Should I try and work out every day? It's just so hard w/ work and the kids to really get there every day.

Re: Should I change my workout?

  • You don't have to be sore everyday to lose weight. Maybe if you are trying to sculpt, build muscle, etc. But I lost 25 lbs in 5 months from spinning alone. The bottom line is you are burning calories and enjoying the workout, so stick with it! Have you tried yoga? Might be a good compliment to your current routine. Even if just 1-2x a week. Keep it up! :-)

  • if you want to tone your whole body, you need to do different things to work all the muscle groups.  if you just want to lose fat, then as long as you're burning calories you should be good. i don't think you need to work out every day.  maybe grab some light hand weights and do some toning moves on your off days, just to get different muscles working.
