No cable/satellite, just regular tv. do I absolutely need the DTV converter box for it to work?
Thanks!

Re: tv isn't working!
NBC is channel 4 not 7.
The whole new over the air TV is a little pet peeve of mine. For years I had a tv in our basement hooked up to the old antenna on our roof (we used it for the big tv in our family room before we got FiOS) Anyway after the stupid digital conversion we got a converter box with the expectation that we'd get all the channels. WELL, even with the converter box we only got channel 7, 7.2 (some health channel) 9, 11, 11.4 ( antenna TV), NJN, and a bunch of Korean channels.
Here's the catch, You need to have a DIGITAL TV and a DIGITAL antenna to pick everything up. The old antennas won't get everything with the converter box, so even if you have a digital TV, its a waste.
Hope that helps.

sounds like you probably just need a digital antenna. The converter box is if you have an old analog antenna like I do on my roof.
This was on Yahoo today it might be helpful.

I just have the rabbit ears. Is that different than the digital antenna? Does the tv need to be plugged into the cable jack in the wall?
this is the antenna i have http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=SDV2210/27&scy=us&slg=en

thats fine. Those are digital rabbit ears. As long as your tv is digital- which I think it is. You'll be OK. Just hook the rabbit ears up to the TV and plug the TV into the power. You don't need to do anything with the cable jack coming out of the wall, that has nothing to do with it.
Honestly, you should pick up a lot of channels since each network broadcasts about four digital channels each (11.1, 11.2, 11.3, 11.4) for example.
Hope it works out! :-)
DH said we might need an amplifier?
So we got one, and now it's worse. Not finding anything....
