Zoe's recipe reminded me I should let you in on the one I made also. Both use maple, but this one is undoubtedly different, as its maple+ginger+soy+etc. instead of maple+mustard.
I made the recipe the other night and it was phenomenal. I can see why it's one of the best recipes on Epicurious. Completely worth the effort. I don't even really like salmon and I had to admit it was delicious. It was agreed that it tasted like an entree you'd have at an upscale restaurant. I made the mustard mashed potatoes also and they were very good and balanced the sweetness of the glaze.
The glaze alone is incredible and I could see it having a ton of uses. I tried it after mixing it together and practically wanted to drink it. It's good.
Notes: It makes a ton so I halved the salmon recipe. Even halved, the salmon took significantly longer to bake (but I had a very thick cut from the seafood counter). I made the full mustard mashed potato recipe and used half of the mustard and can't see how anyone would use more than that so proceed with caution.
Apparently there is even a video: http://www.epicurious.com/articlesguides/cuisines/aroundtheworldin80dishes/unitedstatescedarplankedsalmonrecipe
Re: Speaking of salmon recipes (or YUMMY glazes to go on anything)
That sounds delish, thanks! I did a maple and soy glaze on Kyva's portion. Not that it did any good since she wouldn't touch it, but I thought it was good.
Here's another great recipe with something similar. This isn't glaze but more of a marinade.
Broiled Chilean Sea Bass Marinated in Sake, Soy and Fresh Ginger
It's from an old Take Home Chef episode. Speaking of yummy. Mmm...Curtis Stone...
