I'm really freaking angry at Komen Foundation

In case you haven't heard, they've pulled funding to Planned Parenthood's breast cancer screening program.

So. Give me a good local cancer organization to raise money for.

A big old middle finger to you, stupid Nest.

Re: I'm really freaking angry at Komen Foundation

  • What?  grumble grumble grumble grrrrr

Avon raises money for local cancer patients.  See if there is someone doing the Rocky Mountain Avon walk and donate to their goal (I walked a couple years ago but don't know anyone walking locally this year, only in Chicago).  The walk is in June but they take donations all year.

  • Yeah, I'm really pissed about it too.

I've done the Avon walk in the past but I just don't think I can raise $1800 to do it this year. I wish I could.

  • I don't know if I could do Avon. I thought seriously about it, but as ksun said, that's a lot of money. I guess I could always try and even if I didn't reach the goal, the money would still go to them.

  • Some of my stu co kids are doing the Avon walk, I think.  I'll make sure and you can donate to them. Smile

Komen can pucker up right now.  I can't believe they pulled this crap.

  • My mom had breast cancer.  Her dr mentioned Andre Center, although she didn't use them.  They are a CO foundation.   Andrecenter.org.
  • Me too.

You could support the U. of Colorado Cancer Center.  They support all kinds of cancer based research through U. Colorado.

We also support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.  They are not local, but they do support research work on breast cancer.

  • You could go to Cocktails for a Cure which supports the AMC Cancer Fund (same thing velocitygirl mentioned) on March 1st:

  • I meant donate to a walker, not exactly walk in it Smile  They do start asking people to start signing up to be a volunteer for the walk right now.  I might look into volunteering as well as donate some money.

  • There's a 5k called the Race Against Cancer at the Greeley Stampede on the 4th of July that is for the Rocky Mountain Cancer Rehabilitation Institute.  My family does it every year.
