Spare Some Nestie Thoughts...updated
My best friend Ang is a little over 12 weeks pregnant with their 2nd she was in town last week (they live in Arkansas) had a great visit etc...
She went to the doctor a couple days after they got home and had an Ultrasound (she has Graves Disease which is an over active thyroid so they just monitor her a little closer with additional US) the latest one revealed that the baby was developing without a skull or brain. 2 doctors confirmed that the baby does have the defect, they are seeing a genetic specialist tomorrow to get a 100% confirmation. If the baby does in fact have this defect then they have to make a choice whether to terminate. If she did make it full term it could potentially be harmful for her (the mom) and if she delivered then the baby would only possibly live a few hours.
Needless to say they are devastated. This was going to be their last child since she was very sick (lost weight, in and out of hospital etc) with her first as well as this one. Any thoughts, prayers, etc.. you can spare I know they could use them. I feel so helpless and hate that I am so far away
Updated: It was confirmed this AM that the baby did have the genetic disorder which led to them losing the baby. My heart is heavy for her and her family.
