In the next month or so I should be receiving an email from The Barclays about volunteering for this year's PGA tournament (it's at Beth Page Black at the end of August). If you think your H would be interested let me know and I'll forward you the details so he can sign up early (and he'll have a better chance of doing what he wants).
Re: ~Married~
Yes, please! I think he would love to do something like that.
I'll PM you my email. Thanks!
No problem! It's so fun! And he'll get guest passes for each day of the tourney so you can go and hang out while he's there!
I think in the online application you have the option of noting that you know someone already involved in it, so he can put down my name. Especially if he decides he wants to be a Standard Bearer. That's what I did last year, and a good friend of mine from work holds one of the chairs in that committee.
ETA - S was a walking scorer and had a blast. The year before S worked the Shot Link, which is the technology that calculates the distances the golfers drive the ball. He liked it well enough, but the sucky part is you're stuck in these towers that are kind of small and don't get close to the golfers. I would say if he wants to be close to the golfers (and actually have the opportunity to talk with them) he should sign up for any of these: walking scorer, marshall, or standard bearer.
That sounds awesome! Thanks for all the info and advice!
I have to admit though, my first thought when I first read this was, "OMG, I get to meet PSU!" Then I realized that the tournament was a a lot closer to you last year so that probably wouldn't happen. I was sad.
::jumps up and down:: (figuratively, of course, lol) YAY!
I'm going to tell H about it tonight!
