Ladies that have been in a transitional role before layoff

My company was bought out by a larger company.  I have 6 weeks left and I'm having a hard time at work trying to be anything but a zombie and somewhat productive.  I have 6 weeks left (found out 2 weeks ago).  I've managed a large project on my own for the most part and I guess I'm taking it hard that everything I've worked for is being taken away from me.

Everything started out, "you've been doing great with this" "we want to help you" and then quickly turned into "we're going to transition some of your responsibilities" which quickly turned into most of my responsibilities.  At this point, I feel that they only want me included where they can lay blame on me for something that fell through the cracks or if they can't figure something out for themselves--I'm not copied on anything important in emails (like responses from regulatory authorities that have huge impact on the project) and I guess I'm just hating how I've been swept under the rug.  It makes me to want to forget about the few things left that I have to do.

Anyone else go through this?  How can I get through these next 6 weeks?  Ugh...

Re: Ladies that have been in a transitional role before layoff

  • This happened to me at the job I had before my current job. We were told in January that my department was having layoffs and I'd be one of the people let go. We were told that we'd be given a bonus if we stayed until March 31, so that's what I did.

It was tough initially but then I realized what a great situation it was. I was still getting paid and had almost 3 months to find a new job (better economy). I was able to go on interviews without sneaking around, my bosses were my references. etc. I spent the time job hunting and interviewing in between finishing up my work, socialized with coworkers (we had a lot of parties since most of us were leaving) and farting around on the Internet.

My advice is to just do what they ask of you and spend your time finding a new job. Use the time to your advantage.
