Re: WWND re: working/leave (clicky poll)

  • My first thought is to just let Friday be the last day but if you can work a bit from home and get paid w/o using that vacation time, that may be worth it if you want/need the money. If that is not even a thought, just enjoy whatever few days you have left of life w/o baby! YAY!! So excited for you.

  • If the money/time isn't an issue, take next week for sure! Finish up, get a pedi, see a movie, take a nap while you still can!
  • I think it depends on what you want to do.  If you want to kick back and not worry about work, fine.  If you think you will be bored and want a little something to do while waiting around, work and save your days.  I worked until labor with both and am glad I did but I'm the type who would've been bored sitting at home.  Also, I'm betting this weekend for you anyway.  Wink

  • I'm somewhat in your shoes right now.  I gave notice last Friday thinking I'd only have Monday and Tuesday off this week before my induction.  But now that we've pushed the induction back, I'm off all week (unless he decides to come sooner).  At first I was regretting the decision to not go back to work this week and waste part of my FMLA leave early (like at 10 am on Monday when I was already bored out of my mind!!).  But now I'm grateful for the time to clean, cook, prepare, sleep in, and just relax.  Although I've probably spent more time messing around on the computer than actually being productive or taking advantage of being off work.  But I'm OK with that and who knows when I'll ever have this time to myself again.

However, if you have the ability to work at home at your own pace, that might not be so bad.  I personally could not have forced myself to go into work and deal with people this week, but working at home might have been a good alternative if that were a possibility with my job.

Good luck with whatever you decide.  And if you do decide to just be done with work, enjoy the time and don't feel guilty for one second!!  Hopefully baby will come any day then you won't have to worry about your decision!

  • I vote work until you have the baby.  There's nothing worse than sitting around *waiting* for something to happen.

Of course, I went to a track meet and was in school all day during labor with my last two kids, sooo.... Smile

  • I also voted "work until baby."  That way you can use all your paid time off for when baby comes so you can stay home longer.  I appreciated that WAY more than time off before baby.  ;)

  • I'd end Friday for sure...then again this is coming from someone who quit at the end of July & wasn't due until mid-October.  I was MISERABLE in pregnancy though--working was torture for me.
