Paris: 3 Nights (Need Food Recs)

I will be in Paris for just three nights this month.

Do you have any restaurant recommendations for me?

Price is not an issue, although making reservations at this late date may be.  We have no major dietary restrictions, and we enjoy low-end and high-end meals.

Thanks!

  • L 'Arome, 1 Michelin star.  Lower key place but amazing food and service.

This was your rec that I followed, you MUST dine at Le Cinq.  We couldn't get reservations for dinner but went there for lunch.  OMG, love and it was so nice, not many diners at that time.  One of the best meals of our lives.

  • Here are some I've saved from an American expat living in Paris. They sound delicious. My only comment is that we ate at Le Coupe Chou (on her not so great list) and had a great experience.

YUP!! Absolutely outstanding.  Even the breakfast is out of this world.  If you can't get a reservation, I highly recommend making your way to George V just to have a drink in their bar.

  • Thanks for the recs thus far.  Much appreciated.
  • Creperie Beaubourg...it's near the Centre Pompidou in the place with the fountain.

  • Another vote for Le Cinq-- we went for dinner, and it was one of the best meals of our lives.  The tasting menu is totally worth the splurge, especially when they wheel the huge champagne cart over.

We also really liked Au Fil des Saisons.  Their specialty is Duck Confit with Foie Gras and Roasted Potatoes.  The foie kind of melts into duck and potatoes, and it's so good.

We also took a Context Tours chocolate walk with Wendy Lyn, and it was one of the best things we did in Paris.  She's does her own tours now via http://www.thepariskitchen.com/.  She has amazing connections (she lived with the Poilane family above the bakery when she was younger), and I highly recommend doing one of her tours or dinners.  DH still keeps in touch with her, and if you're a foodie, I think you'd really enjoy it.

Finally, do not leave Paris without getting macaroons from Laduree.  So yummy!

  • Here's that duck/goose restaurant I referred to on MM.  It would be safe to say that a visit here to eat pommes de terre sardaise (potatoes cooked in duck fat) was our motivation go visit our family in Paris last time.

Au Petit Sud Ouest "Boutique Restaurant"

    46, Avenue de la Bourdonnais

Here's a picture of my last meal there - fried goose with pommes de terre sardaise. See how the potato slivers are all puffed up?  I die just thinking about them.

They have toasters on every table so you can toast your bread and have it piping hot with your foie gras.

  • How far in advance did you book your reservation for Le Cinq? I would like to book a reservation for our anniversary in three weeks, but haven't heard back from the hotel yet. Did you book via email? I sent a general email via the Four Seasons website because I didn't see a direct email for the restaurant.

Crossing my fingers we can get in.... :-/
