possibly dumb ? do kids get ear infections because they are COLD

NOT BECAUSE THEY HAVE A COLD. But because they must have got cold.

BF lady just told me thats the reason why my son has an ear infection. At first I didn't understand. I said oh yah its because of his cold he got the ear infection. She said no you have to make sure he's warm at all times because he got cold and thats what led to the ear infection.

WTF. Is this true? I don't think so? But didn't want to argue (or come across any more of a terrrible mother)

That's a new one for me and Teagan had something like 8 ear infections before she was 2.

Scarlett had 8 in about 5 months, all in the warmer months from June-October.  I will remember this if we have #2-must keep house warm

Don't worry - I get the same from my mother who doesn't think a kid is capable or regulating their own body temperature until the age of 26 apparently because she's perpetually complaining that I wasn't dressed warmly enough, and now my son isn't dressed warmly enough. "I can't put my arms down!" sums up how she'd like us to dress.

My MIL insists that the cold causes illness.  I have tried to explain to her that it's not the weather, it's the fact that we're inside more in winter, etc.  No use.  My mom used to tell us not to go out with a wet head in winter because we'd get sick.  It's just one of those things.

Do we have the same mother?! OMG I got home one day from running to Target and she had Olivia in a sweater...mind you my mom was wearing shorts and a tshirt.

she's builds buildings so she's somewhat intellegant she's also from another country so she's got some old school thinkings. she's also feeding her kid soup right now! (her daughter is 5.5 months old)

i just wanted to make sure i didn't miss something. and seriously i said like 4 times n o he has cold. and she said oh my daughter (her oldest) got her first ear infection because i had the ac on after he came out of the bath. she said after that i always put a hat on her in the house?

i was so confused.

My husband insists if he's chilly or forgets to wear a scarf that is the cause of his cold.

My BFF (I love her but she can be a dip sometimes) told me I got bronchitis from not covering my chest with a scarf when I go outside or not zipping my coat.

This, this, this.  It drives me freakin' insane.  I want to tell her how dumb she is!!!  If anything, does the cold keep things more sterile?  (think surgical rooms)
