Do employers typically ask to see your most current pay stub?
The company that DH interviewed with last week called back asking him to fax them his most recent pay stub. Is this common practice?
Re: Do employers typically ask to see your most current pay stub?
Rob has been asked for his W2 a few times - he's in sales, I don't know if that makes a difference. He generally does a lot of negotiating on his packages, base vs commission, commission percentages, etc. The job he's in now, he also had to show his comp contract.
I start a new job on Monday and while they didn't ask for away stub I know they did say they would verify my salary with my previous employer. Not sure if they did or not but I told the truth so it was out of my mind pretty quickly.
my company asks for w2s for the past 2 years for any position.
personally, i dont understand the practice unless like amyrob said its for a sales position. but our cfo insists and so HR complies...
I've never heard of that before. Amy's explanation for a sales job makes sense but anywhere else that just seems odd to me.
Then again, as part of my background check for my new job they got a copy of my driving record. I'll be working from home and nothing about my job has anything to do with driving, so why was this necessary. On the flip side, my references weren't contacted at all.
We don't, either... I verify title and dates, that's all.
