Randoms--feel free to add yours.

I am exhausted. I haven't slept more than five hours/night for the last several days. I have no idea why I can't sleep. Well, actually, I CAN sleep, I FALL asleep just fine, but I wake up at like, 4am. Ridiculous. Going to bed earlier doesn't help. I just wake up earlier.

I have been writing this paper on support groups in our local area for one of my nursing classes. I have to go to my last group meeting tonight, it's a meeting for people with anxiety, and I don't want to go. I want to stay home, in pajamas, and watch stupid television.

I went to visit the ferals today and Carl totally let me pick him up and carry him around. He loves me. :) Maybe he could be a house cat after all...

I had a suicide prevention coalition meeting today and now I'm sad.

I love our vet. No particular reason for that--just because he's awesome.

That is all.

Re: Randoms--feel free to add yours.

  • There is a bag of minty melts on the counter at home and I can't stop thinking about them.  *drool*

  • I totally love our new vet, but they called me about 1/2 an hour ago to report that "cat is in surgery and we can't find any evidence that he's ever been tested for FLV.  Oh, and are you sure he's not a cryptorchid?  We can't find evidence of that either."

Uh, no - because its all in his records from his first ever vet.  And now I'm feeling sort of icky about the whole thing.  :(  I guess pressured is the only word I can come up with ...

So I referred them to get records from his older vet.  We'll see what they have to say when I go to pick him up this evening.

ETA - Oh!  And in a NPR thing ... one of my pinterest posts has gone a little viral.  Like 100+ repins in the last day or two.  Which is fine, but I am annoyed that pinterest has to send me an individual email for EVERY FREAKING repin.  So I keep checking my email and being like "wow!  20 emails in the last 15 minutes!  Oh, but 19 of them are from pinterest."  **sigh**

  • The pets have been driving me nuts. They're not doing anything wrong, but OMG. Dakota has to lay on top of my at all times, Jasper is pacing, whining (and farting rancid farts, no he doesnt need to potty) and Rosco is going from window to window and I'm nervous he's going to break the blinds.

NPR - I love our new house! Love the yard! We don't have a dishwasher, and I haven't had a problem washing dishes by hand at ALL! I have a lot of unpacking to do, and it bothers me a bit - but I have hidden all the boxes to be unpacked in a side room so I don't have to see them. If I don't see them they're not there, right?

I need a new job - I work to many hours for crap pay and I feel like I'm not recognized for my hard work. Not to mention I have 2 out of 3 supervisors who tell me I'm worthless, more or less, and the other is an alcoholic.

To end on a positive note:

It's almost time to file our tax return! Its the first time we get to file as married! We haven't been on a "date" in a long time, so we plan on going on one after we get our return! We both work Valentines Day, so this date will be our valentines day! Even if it's in March! I'm so excited! (what should we do!?)

Oh but you will. Oh you so will! 3 1/2 years of washing EVERYTHING by hand, and I'm so sick and tired of not having a dishwasher (installing one would easily equal an entire kitchen remodel thanks to the way everything is laid out/set up).

My wicked little thought for the day, lol!

I only have to suffer for 1 1/2 years. We rent, so if I'm fed up with it we can just move. :D

  • Mine are generally good.

    NPR:

We just booked a killer place at a pub in Victoria, BC, for our anniversary later this year, and DH and I are SO excited.

With my raise at work, we're now able to pay off our debt in the next 8 months.

With said raise, we're able to devote 300 a month to saving for travel/exploring Portland and the surrounding areas.

We're also able to start up our retirement savings (we're in our early 20s).

We'll also be able to fully fund an e-fund this year.

After our debt is gone, that 800 dollars gets to go towards funds for home improvements and a new car!

I know those were all super MM, but we have had some months where we really were struggling, and for as little as we make, I'm very excited to be able to save that much a month. Our budget has changed so much since I graduated in December, and we're seeing the change in pay this week :)

DH and I made a spreadsheet by continent, that lists all of the countries/specific cities we want to visit.

Work is SO slow, and SO boring. I like that a lot of days, because it lets me get a lot done for the rescue, for our budget, and for planning trips, but it is excruciatingly slow some days.

      PR:

Piper is evolving into a great dog. She has learned to chase a ball, retrieve it, and drop it at your feet (huge accomplishment for our spaz girl). She also has really kicked her focus into gear, and training her has been really enjoyable. I'm excited to get her into a flyball class next month.

I think we're going to be keeping Elsie, we've had her for 10 months, with over 20 applications, and none of them have felt they were the right fit for her. We love her and Piper and her adore one another.

Olive(feral) is now almost completely at home, she came and sat on the couch with me the other day, and lets me pick her up off the ground for a minute or so. She also rubs all over my legs and walks in between them when it's her meal time or she wants attention.

Bueller has been mellowing out a bit, and the extra exercise and mental stimulation has really helped.

Ferris and Elliot are good, snuggly and normal.

Everest keeps sitting outside our roommate's door, and meowing. This morning when he opened the door, she ran in and rolled around on the floor to get pats from him.

Overall, I'm really happy with the animals, and excited to have money to start actually enjoying our 20s. I'm finally starting to feel like all of our hardwork and sacrifices are paying off.

We may do the same thing as last year. We are the small coffee shop center of the world, and one of the shops close to us does a killer V day brunch and coffee. We loved it last year.

We don't have that much debt, but our incomes are relatively low compared to our COL, so it's really exciting.

As for the car, we need to replace DH's sh*tty 2003 stock Lancer. I'll be keeping my 1998 Lexus ES300, though :) That car is a wonderfully reliable beast!

Ugh.  Dishwashers.  We didn't have one, and were thrilled our new apt had one only to learn that all dishes must be pre-washed or the food from the dishes will get on all of the other dishes while being washed.  H still doesn't understand this so I have to check the dishes in the dishwasher before running it to make sure he didn't sneak any food covered ones in the dishwasher.  The germophobe in me does appreciate how hot the dishwasher gets, though.

My point is be careful what you wish for.  :)

  • We're meeting with someone at our bank in one hour about pre-qualifying for a home loan :)  I'm a little excited, but still haven't heard back from the job I interviewed for almost 3 weeks ago which was something we were hoping to know before this meeting.

ETA:  Just to clarify, the job I interviewed for is a better position at my current place of employment, so it makes a big difference in whether we'd feel ready to buy anytime soon.

Thanks for mentioning this idea.  For some random reason (maybe because I've got too much going on?) I never thought of that.  It is infinitely adjustable.  I just changed to "daily" emails instead of "individual" emails.  Duh.  Embarrassed

At our townhouse (where we just moved from ) we had a dishwasher and had to do the same thing. H never got it either and he really didn't know how to load it, he could fit in maybe 5 things and some how take up all the room in the dishwasher...I could fit about 50...

At one point every time we ran the dishwasher (or washer) our basement would flood. :/

  • NPR:

My best staff at work called me and quit today. She is giving me two weeks, but I was still upset. She called me as I was just at Sam's Club, and in Wal-Mart; my two least favorite places in the entire world so I was cranky to begin with. So I made her feel bad. Oh well.

I felt like I argued with 5th graders all afternoon, which is annoying and useless. Their parents don't care about what they do, so its all for nothing.

I'm sick of my brother living in my house. I want him to move out.

    PR:

My good leash is at my parents house. My dogs were there over the weekend, and I guess my mom too all of their stuff, so I don't have my leather leash (the only other ones we have are the zip leashes). No obedience school tonight. Oh well, I am not really in the mood to go anyway.

I think thats all I have..
