What is the difference between girls size 6 and 6x?

DD is outgrowing sz 5 and lately when I have gone shopping I see sz 6 and 6x. Is 6x bigger than sz 6 but smaller than sz7? Help please.

I was in Kohl's getting her new school pants because sz 5 is too short, sizes came in 6 and 6x...I was so confused!  AND, Andrew has moved into sz 2t. These kids are killing me!!

I have no idea. I have a hard time with clothing since B is too tall for size 5 (and she 6) but the 6 or 6x are way too big...........I think there's even 5 and 5x with some companies........

Someone just told me that 6x is like a half size, so I assume it's bigger than 6 but smaller than 7.  No idea if that's true though!

Kohls is hit or miss....sometimes the 6x is bigger, sometimes it's not.  It sucks because once you're out of that 6x at Kohls, you have to go to the big kid section and all the clothes are like teenage hooker clothes   Sometimes they even have a 7 in the little kid section (at least in pants).

OMG YES!!! I am boycotting gap for this reason! DD wears a 6/7 there and all their stuff if made for 14 year olds!!! She is four not 14, so annoying! Old Navy is the same. So frustrating!!

6X is bigger and longer.  Eliza is 6 and is wearing size 8-10 now.  Yikes!

Stephanie wears a 6x! She is almost 5! I am so not ready for teenage hooker clothes next year at the rate she is growing!

6x is a little bigger & longer. There's usually not that much difference. We're in 7 tops here :-(
