Over a week ago, I posted about applying with 2 rescues for a dog adoption. The first one turned me offf a bit when they contacted my vet and the second one was a long distance adoption.
After speaking with adoption coordinators, the foster mom, rescue volunteers and having a home visit, I am the new proud mama of Dixie, a 2 year old chocolate lab. Dixie is currently in the labs4rescue program and will be moving from LA to PA on Feb. 17th, thanks to Rescue Road Trips. Thank you to the nestie who recommended getting a video of her since I won't have met her before she comes home. She is simply adorable...she was fetching, knows sit, down and stay.
I'm very excited but a bit nervous. I only lost Hanna 2 months ago and I'm worried about comparing them as well as introducing her to my cat, Miranda.
Thanks again for all of your advice. I feel good about my decision.
Re: Update on rescue/adoption
So excited! I can't wait to see pictures!
Glad everything worked out!
Congratulations! She will never replace Hanna but she can become a part of your family and a huge part of your life regardless. For me, rescuing after the loss of a pet was always a tribute to them almost. I loved them enough that I wanted to save another.
Please post pictures and stories when she arrives!!
