small but feisty - ? re: dolphin in disney
Hi SBF - I saw your post below about staying at the dolphin in disney. did you like it? did you feel like it was in pretty good proximity to magic kingdom, etc.?
we are planning to go next year and were hoping to use starwood reward points for our hotel (just signed up for the cc to get bonus pts) - which we can use at dolphin or swan.
how did you get to the hotel fr. the airport. i read that the dolphin/swan can't use the "magic express" shuttle.
any good/bad feedback you can give me would be appreciated!!
thx,
renee

Sorry to hijack your post but I saw your title and I thought I could help. I've stayed at the Sawn and Dolphin before many time and used Starwood points.
I'm not sure about the Magic Express, but they do charge for parking your car in their lot- which other Disney hotels do not do. Lately we've been staying at the Swan because the Swan has queen sized beds and the Dolphin has doubles- if that matters to you. We really liked their pool too.
We really like the Boardwalk/Yacht/ Beach/ Swan & Dolphin area and have stayed at each hotel many times. You won't get a full "Disney-feel" at the S&D and its a big convention hotel, but you can't beat the location.
HTH. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Again, sorry for butting in
This was my second stay there. WE stayed at the Dolphin because they give a teacher discount. We were def in good proximity; we walked to Epcot to see the fireworks show. We didn't fly. You do have to pay to park, which was a bear... we didn't realize that was in teh equation of our cost comparison between staying on property or not!
I very much liked it. The pool was great, nice big property to walk around, plus the Boardwalk area is great for walking around without being actually in the park. The only real downfall was that you can't get the meal plan. As a result, we really stuck to counter service meals when in the parks and it was just plain not healthy. Of course, by not being limited to the meal plan, we went to the much cheaper and less crowded character breakfast I mentioned in that post, to places off property, and probably spent much less on food as a result and definitely ate less!
HTH!
