Infant feeding formula question

So A is now completely on formula.  I notice that she is ravenous this past week.  She cannot go more than 2.5 hours without eating but she has been sleeping through the night (knock on wood).  She gets 6 ounces and I feel like she can't go 3 hours and after eating she might want more.  She is 4 months on the 11th.  Should I up to 7 ounces?  Sometimes she doesn't drink the whole thing and will leave an ounce and I try again like a half hour later and she eats the last ounce and then I feel like she is looking for more.  Advice?

Re: Infant feeding formula question

  • I always fed my kids as much as they could handle until they refused or spit up, then I knew it was enough. They got most of their calories during the daylight hours and sttn at 7&8 weeks old. I had big babies with big appetites and my goal was to get them to eat every 3-4 hours during the day and their ozs. increased fast. I  think all kids are different. My 2 1/2 month old nephew is already at 6 months and he could take more maybe 50% of the time. There is no downside to feeding her more ozs.  if she keeps it in and doesnt need to eat as often

Thanks I am going to try this next time she wakes up.  She has been napping badly so I when she gets up I will feed her and then if she wants more like an hour later I'll try a few more ounces.

  • She could be growing also. My kids were always kind of cranky and wanted to eat much more quickly so they could get the ozs. go back to sleep and get bigger. I just did whatever it took for them to sleep at night and that seemed to work with both my kids, they are still good eaters and they love to sleep
  • Def up the ounces.  My rule of thumb was if they are draining the bottle go up an ounce.  They always stop eating when they are full.  But it could be a growth spurt too.
