Hi. I'm back from Rome and Florence. Thankfully we didn't have any issues with anything being cancelled b.c of gas prices/strikes (forum and palatine hill were closed due to strike-not gas thought-but not colosseum go figure) but thanks for the info last week. It was good to know before I went.
Friday, December 28 2012. The day I had emergency appendix surgery in Mexico and quit smoking. Proof that everything has a good side!! DH and I are happily child-free!! No due date or toddler tickers here!!

Re: VABeach08
We drove up to Rome Thurs afternoon and things were much better (Naples was starting to get gas but not quite there, but we got some right outside of Rome and were fine for the round trip). We did the Scavi tour (I've never done it) Fri a.m. Not much else-- found a new (to us) restaurant, Sprito di Vino... very good food, reasonable prices.
Any must go restaurants on your end?! We probably won't be back to either city for a while, but maybe/hopefully Easter time.
the weather was great thrus and friday wasn't it?!
i have a few business cards of places that we went in rome and florence to eat and drink. i'll Pm them to you. one wine place in florence that was especially nice. sadly the place that i was looking forward to going back to in rome is closed until feb 15 so I was sad about that
