If your kid was a late talker

When did they start talking? My nephew is 20 months and has about five words. Most of it is grunts, yells, etc but I'm slightly concerned. My sister is too but she doesn't work with him either.  I guess my question is when did the words start coming and was it b/c of EI?

2ish. i remember he didn't say all that much when he turned 2, but he's 2 andddd 5 months now and comes up with new words daily.  i didn't get worried, i knew it was slow, but i didn't get into EI or anything. I wasn't going to stress it, i know most kids have a verbal explosion after they turn 2 so I was waiting to see if that happened, and it did.

She really just started around 20 months or so.... she had a few words prior to that though (mom, dad, milk).

My friends son didn't start picking up words till he was closer to 3 (shortly after he started daycare). Teachers were concerned and suggested she get an eval at that point, but i'm not sure she ever did

Teagan had about 6 words at 18 months. I thought the ped would be concerned with it being the minimum thet look for but she wasn't. It was 2 or 3 months later when she really started saying a lot of words. Behavior-wise it was a liitle rough untill then. No ei, she was in daycare full time.

Pre-Nest, my older son didn't talk until he was 3.  I had no idea about EI, but once he started talking he exploded.  Most days I have to tell him to put a cork in it b/c there is no such thing as a minute of silence in this house LOL.  So no it wasn't b/c of EI, but I don't know why he was a late talker.

Owen will be 2 next month and he is a late talker.  He has about 15-20 words that he uses properly.  Lately he has a new word every 3 days or so (or animal sound) so it's getting better.  We do have him in EI but I am not sure it's actually doing anything.  I think he is just going at his own pace.  I'd stop the EI but it's not a huge deal out of my schedule so we just keep it.

My almost 2 year old didn't really start talking till a few months ago.  And by talking I mean 2 word sentences.  Nothing major.  His biggest phrase is "i want nack" aka snack. He def has over 50 words now but this is very very recent.  18 months he barely had 10 words.

If he hadn't started talking by 2 I was going to have EI come evaluate.

About 23 months M went from a handful of words to full paragraphs in like a 2 week period. And now he can't tell a story in under 30 minutes of constant talking.

Two. I swear it was like she blew out the birthday candles and found her voice! Has not stopped sInce!

Mikey has 2 words maybe- we are in EI and just waiting for him to say something, lol! Kieran really didn't start with 2 even with EI since he was 1. Then at 2.5 he didn't stop talking, stringing words, sentences etc...
