Things to do in Modesto?

My H has a conference in Modesto this weekend and I'm going along for the ride. He'll be in meetings Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. Can anyone recommend something to do in Modesto? I have maybe driven through it once, don't remember a thing, and would love some ideas.

Also, I'm not sure if the hotel has a decent workout room, so if anyone can recommend a (clean, decent) gym that will sell me a day pass, I'd also appreciate that.

Honestly...not much. They do have a mall and they have added some outdoor stores/shopping that I have not been to, so I can't vouch for them. My inlaws live there, so I dont spend much time shopping when we are there.

In shape is a popular gym in the area, probably your best bet.

There USED to be the Hershey factory that had tours...but no more.  I also remember doing something at Blue Diamond Almonds.  Don't know if that's still up and running.  There was also a historic home (downtown??) that I toured and that was interesting.

Modesto, like Fresno, has one of Forever 21's new concept of department store-sized stores. It's three stories, 150,000 square feet. Huge. It's at the Vintage Faire Mall.

Did some research.  The mansion I toured was the McHenry Mansion.  It appears to still be closed due to a fire there.

Ha, I was right about the mansion, I guess. I was thinking it would be McHenry based on that info. There is still a Ernst and Julio Gallo winery and a Barefoot winery as well as several others.
