What is your daycare policy on unlabeled food?

We fill out little slips that say what they are getting, label all containers/food and I alwYs put scarlett's food in the same spot in the fridge in one little group. Today we forgot to labelone of those veggie/fruit pouches and they didn't give it to her. I am kind of annoyed b/c they know she gets one everyday and her little slip was labeled. Next to where we had written pouch on the slip there was a note-not sure, no name. I'm annoyed-I totally get and admit that we should have labeled it, but it was a one time mistake and clearly her food. I will probably

  • I never heard of that. But, anything we brought in had to come in a lunch bag so that they know what belonged to whom. Even though you filled out the slip and it was logical to you, everyone is so litigious that they have to do a CYA and not serve it init doesnt clearly say it's hers.

  • Yeah i guess you are right Amy, buti am still annoyed. I think it's the note that most annoyed me. Not sure? Yaehright. Her new teacher is a *** and this is just typical of her-she is out to show everyone she is boss itvseems. There are 12 kids in the class and 4 of us have complained about how she talks to the kids. That note just reeks of her.

  • They are very big on labeling at our place - signs are up on all the doors and fridges. But we send everything in her lunchbag so its all together. All her bowls and cups and spoon is labeled but this made me realize we've never once labeled the yogurt pack she gets every morning. But that's breakfast and my husban hands it directly to her when he sets her up in the morning so it's probably not an issue. We don't have a slip to fill out or anything. That sounds like an awful lot of work each morning!
  • Technically if it's not labeled they can't give it to them, but they have called to confirm something was his when I forgot to label it. And if he's gotten it before they know he's not allergic and will give it.

ETA: no slip to fill out here either.

  • ours is a really small school so they're easy & flexible. However, we do put all food items in a ziplock bag w/her name on it. at least this way, not every item has to be labeled.

  • belle eats what the school provides so i can't say. my school is also small and not a chain. (well it is now but a very SMALL local chain)

if i recall she goes to a chain right? where corporate could be looking at it from a litigous standpoint.

the way the teacher handled it...i would have been annoyed. but i can understand WHY they didn't do it.
