I could see Sable's thought process today...

She had to get her kennel cough booster so she can be groomed soon (she's a mess right now), so I got her leash out of the closet and she was insanely excited, jumping around, I could practically hear her thoughts. So, in my head, this is how it went.

Sable: "OMG LEASH! LEASH MEANS WALK! WALK WALK WALK! WAAAAALK"

We walk to the car and I open the door. She just looks at me like, "WTH is this? This isn't a walk! Oh, fine, I guess a car ride is okay. But I better be able to stick at least a little part of my nose out the window to sniff the wind."

We get to the vet and she is psycho dog. Happy, but still psycho. Bouncing, jumping. Basically saying, "I love everyone, and everyone loves me! Look at these birds in the cages! Can I eat the birds? No? Just a little taste? One lick? FINE. Look, person! Nope, not gonna stand still. Not gonna happen....no way!". All that while basically bouncing off the walls and not listening to anything I tell her to do.

I was like, "I am so sorry! She isn't usually like this. You probably hear that all the time, but I really mean it!"

Finally the vet tech has to straddle her, hold Sable's head against her stomach, and squirt the stuff in her nose. Sable immediately sneezes straight up into the air, all over the vet tech. You could see the eruption of nose stuff.

When we left, they gave me a coupon for $10 off a training session with a local trainer...I didn't know whether to laugh or be offended. lol

We go back to the car, get back home, and I start to take her into the house. She pulls a little in the direction that we usually go on walks, but I had a meeting, so I couldn't take her. I had to take her inside and kennel her so I could leave. She got in her kennel and just looked at me like, "Look lady...there was not a walk. There was just a really short car ride, a bird I couldn't snack on, and some lady squirting crap into my nose...this is not acceptable."

Needless to say, she (and Roxie) got an extra long walk today and some treats to make up for it. :)

But I swear, this dog's face is just so expressive. And I know sometimes she's probably cursing me. :)

  • Haha I like the coupon part. I have a friend whose dog has her CDX so she is obviously well trained but for some reason she goes bezerk when you take her into a pet supply store like Petco or Petsmart. She starts squealing incredibly loud and has the full body wags. My friend has had sooo many people come up and suggest the stores basic obedience class to her.
  • Too funny! I love dogs with expressive faces.
