Does this seem inappropriate (election related)?

I opened my work email today and found an email from my union (California Nurse's Association). It was basically a mockery of Sarah Palin entitled "Dress Sarah Palin!" and talked about her expensive wardrobe and referred to her as a "Neiman Marxist". Umm.....thanks union, this was helpful. I don't particularly care if they want to endorse a particular candidate or proposition---but an email that is sheer mockery seems really inappropriate. I asked them to remove me from their email list and I'm considering withdrawing from the union itself.

Re: Does this seem inappropriate (election related)?

  • That sounds inappropriate to me.
  • Really inappropriate.  Why in the world would the union do that?
  • Definitely inappropriate.
  • I don't care who they support I think that's totally inappropriate (regardless of the candidate).  In fact, I don't think the union should be sending out an email supporting either candidate ... a proposition like the one (I forget the number... I think 5) that supports Children's Hospitals, yes ... it's a direct relation to your field, but the canidate?? No!! Then again I know it happens a lot "such and such organization/union/etc" support ... but usually props, not candidates.

Is there someone you can complain to?  Union President?  I suspect this was sent out by one person without the knowledge of the majority.

  • Politics at work are inappropriate and when it is a mockery I think it is even worse!

Maybe you can forward the email to the president of the union and let him know you are conisdering leaving the union based on the email received. Make sure to tell him why you feel it is inappropriate. Like ppl said they probably don't even know it is going around.
