So... what 'cha cookin' today?

I'd love for my house to smell yummy all day long.

Anyone cooking something special in honor of the snow day?

If yes, would you care to share recipes or links?

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.

  • I did the cooking last night.  I made this... http://3kidsandus.com/broccoli-chedder-chicken-croissant-braid-recipe/  ... but instead of chicken and broccoli, I stuffed it with chicken, ham, and Swiss and gruyere cheeses and did a cordon bleu.   It's heavenly, either way and Niko always loves it.
  • pot roast in the slow cooker.  Already browned everything so smells delicious.  I follow Pioneer Woman for the first part -- salt and pepper the roast, brown it in a little oil and then brown the onion and then the carrots.  Now I also brown potatoes as I put those in the crockpot too rather than cook on the side.  Then you deglaze the pan with some red wine and beef broth -- I use water and better than bullion beef and use a bit extra on the beef for a nice rich flavor.  Also throw in some minced garlic in the pot and dried rosemary.  Then you pour that over all the other browned stuff in the crockpot and voila.

  • I'm making split pea soup in the crock pot and homemade bread in the bread maker.  And I'll probably make hot cocoa for scratch for the kids.  Maybe sugar cookies to decorate too.  Or pumpkin muffins.  Or pumpkin pie playdoh.  We'll see.

  • I don't have the groceries for chili, which makes me sad. I'm making gluten-free raspberry pancakes for breakfast, salad with leftover rotisserie chicken for lunch, and nachos for dinner.

  • I made blueberry pancakes this morning and now I have rosemary beer bread in the oven.  I wish I'd have prepared more so I could do more cooking today and make some freezer meals or soups.  DH is defrosting some pheasant so I need to come up with something to do with that for dinner tonight.

  • This morning I made baked oatmeal with blueberries and bananas from the skinny taste website.  It was yummy and made my house smell good!

    http://www.skinnytaste.com/2012/01/baked-oatmeal-with-blueberries-and.html

Tonight I can't decide between steaks and mashed potatoes with a veggie or the skinny taste stuffed pepper soup which is yummo!!

  • I'm making barbecue chicken with homemade barbecue sauce for dinner (in the oven).  I would be baking, but my acupuncturist has me on a new gluten-free, dairy-free diet in hopes that it will help my fertility, and I don't have any gluten-free baking supplies yet :(
