I need to blow off some steam, so bear with me here.
I got to work this morning to an e-mail from an author we used for our latest product update. This doctor has emailed me multiple times asking about getting her payment, and I've responded every single time and worked to resolve the issue for her. I don't handle check processing or mailing, all I do is coordinate the authors to work on a project. This morning's email was particularly nasty, stating she still (after waiting all of a single week from my last update) hasn't gotten her check, and it's been so disappointing working through this issue with me and my company (just me really), and the lack of promptness of payment (you're a doctor, are you really hurting that bad?!), and how she wants a contact person to talk to about how "poorly this situation has been managed and the lack of accountability and response..."
Really lady!? I responded to every email you sent and worked to fix the issue of you not receiving the first check we mailed our for you. You waited less than a week from the date I told you it would probably be in the mail before shooting this off to me, who has no control over the finance department, their procedures, or their timing. What a freaking biotch.
Andplusalso, somehow the orange I brought to work with me, from a bag we JUST bought this past week, had a big ol' nasty, ferment-y smelling chunk and now I don't have an orange to eat.
Feel free to share your vents.
Re: Friday Vents
my vent is that THIS is posted on my craigslist in the FREE section.
I'm not blocking out the phone number, I hope someone from here calls them. I can't call or email them. I'm livid.
I have two!
The first, is THIS . it's a Facebook group call "Yooper Rummage Sales". So I was thinking snow machines, furniture, that kinda thing. Yeah. No. There's pets, too. A decent number. It's one thing to rehome your pet/sell puppies online. That is bad enough. But on FACEBOOK come one people! Mind you, some people are trying to find lost pets, but most of the pet pictures are pets for sale. Yuck.
Second, like OP is work. I work in a kitchen at a hotel. A new supervisor was just hired (behind the manager's back. Manager did an interview and said he didn't want this guy. They "big guys upstairs" hired him any way when my Manager was on vacation) Anyway. This guy is awful! He throws things, swears, and has been rude. He thinks he's the shiit. Last week, he started yelling a lady (who is foreign, from Laos) for not putting a jar of spice back in the spot he wanted it. He called her stupid, how she shouldn't be working because she's old and can't speak English, and caller he a stupid b!tch. He didn't get fired. I am TICKED. I wish I would have been there so I could have given him a piece of my mind. Another supervisor did, they got in each other's faces, and the Manager had to break them up.
On top of this, I have another supervisor who has been telling me I don't know how to cook, the only thing I can do is make cupcakes (I make mini-gourmet ones. Everyone loves them) and anyone could do my job. I work my ass off and work 56 hour weeks at least once a month. Today, I came in on my DAY OFF at 5:30am to work a few hours (we're taking over a special department of the hotel the bistro is in). He was super pissed i was there and then 1/2 through my stint at work, he wanted me stay all day because he needed help and was ticked when I told him NO. Meanwhile, when I came across him later, he was in the office not doing anything. He obviously didn't need help that bad. This happens a lot, he's super lazy.
*sigh* I need a new job. This isn't even 1/2 the crap that goes on. It's just so frustrated. The same lazy supervisor will mess with my work schedule so I don't get all my work done.
Translation: We're not willing to put forth the effort to teach our offspring manners in dealing with dogs. And our house has a Colosseum.
That poor puppy, I really hope he gets lucky and finds a good home.
Sakelp: I'd be pretty freaking livid, too. People are so effing LAZY!! A former colleague was saying how she was going to have to rehome one of her Boxers because her toddler is terrorizing her (my interpretation) and the dog's getting snappy with him. Teach the kid some doggie manners then!!
ND: I so don't envy you on both those vents. I could not stand to be part of some rummage group where people took advantage to ditch their pets. I'd be infuriated on a daily basis, I'm sure, and would not be able to see that stuff.
And I'm sorry your superiors are such azzhats. It really never ceases to amaze me some of the horrendous behaviors people don't bother keeping in check in the working world. I get that in cooking/baking areas the egos get pretty freaking huge (why is that, anyway?), but come on, really, who doesn't know at this point that a positive working environment produces WAY better results than dealing with massive attitudes? At least my monster b!tch was just hired for a couple of updates (independent contractor) and she's NOT a coworker I ever have to deal with again.

It chaps my asss when rescue groups place blanket restrictions on adoptable animals. (Mryan probably knows where I'm going with this).
A rescue group on Facebook was making excuses for why they say "no kids" for some of their pit bulls: because the dogs are bigger than the kids.
I asked, if I came to you with my 10-week-old infant and wanted to adopt a pit bull, would I be approved?
Their answer: "I would tell you to apply for Sugar and if you were approved and the home checks were done and then everything was well after the 2 week trial adoption and your home owner's insurance did not restrict pit bulls and you had a 6 foot secure fence and you signed up for the 6 week training course included in your adoption fee, then you could add Sugar to your family"
All I could say was "Wow."
To which they said, "If you want a pit bull from someone that does not know the dog and does not care if it is a good fit you can find millions of them in shelters."
Seriously?! That's horrendous! And, a 6-ft fence is a requirement? Could they make it more difficult?! Wait...don't answer that...

I wanted so say something to the effect of, "I'd probably be laughed out of your building if I told you I live in an apartment with no yard," but I didn't want to be nasty.
They also insinuated that if I volunteered, I'd understand their requirements.
Yeah, I've been a shelter volunteer since 2008. Our shelter recently relaxed their requirements, and it's been a huge improvement.
I have a list:
Logan is teething. I just had to take Hadley to the vet for allergies since the $400 a month I spend a month there on Beelz just wasn't enough. I don't know how much longer I can keep paying these bills (though I will find the money as long as I have to) Hadley (not Beelz!!) peed in her crate, there is *** somewhere in my house and I can't find it and I am so stressed but DH is never home to help me.
ETA: Also my house is never going to sell because my condo association does not accept FHA loans and I need to get the F out of this house. And I think half the people who read this won't even recognize me.
I recognize you.
And I can totally relate... our condo was supposed to be a starter home back when we had one cat and no kids. A cat, two dogs and a baby later we're still stuck here with no end in site thanks to the terrible market.
Hang in there! P.S. - How's Beelz doing lately?

Sorry, who are you? ;-)
Ugh, sorry you are stuck too. The market is so horrible, we are losing so much (if it ever sells) but I just need out.
Beelz is ok, still has to go to Upenn every few weeks for his UTIs They can't cure but try to keep them managed and he is in kidney failure too but he is staying steady. Hadley, however is a hussy. She was my normal dog until one day out of the blue she started attacking Beelz and now she has to always wear a muzzle in the house.
How are your guys?
Just some noob :P
Don't forget the backyard breeder/puppy mill origins. On a Mastiff? Good luck with those genes.
(TBH, though, I know most rescue and shelter dogs probably originated with BYBs or puppy mills, and therefore may have genetic problems. But these people made that choice.)

Glad to hear Beelz is hanging in there. Sorry to hear about Hadley. Just when you think everything's under control, life always has to throw a curveball, huh?
We're doing pretty good. DS is walking and climbing and getting into everything, so we've got our hands full, but it's good. We're giving the pets lots of space so he doesn't drive them insane. :-) We're slooooowly making little baby steps with Dixie's SA and car anxiety, and we're starting a new tricks class with her this week that should be fun. Toby and Lucky are doing good.
Good to "see" you and catch up!
