I did this 8 years ago when I lived in the SF area. It was an amazing experience. I would love to do it again, but the minimum fundraising requirements are $1800 and I just don't think in this economy I can find enough people to donate. However I'd love to volunteer.
I won't be doing the Komen Race for the Cure again, so I want to donate my time to other cancer fundraising efforts. The Avon walk is in the Breckenridge/Keystone area on June 23-24, but there are many other ways to volunteer which don't require being there for the weekend.

Is anyone interested in signing up with me to volunteer to help? I'd love to have a Nestie team of volunteers - maybe some of us who have done the Komen walk in the past.
Re: Avon Walk for Breast Cancer - volunteers
I would love to volunteer! I did the Avon walk two summers ago and I am definitely not in the shape to walk again.
Anything that is safe for a pregnant person to do, I'd love to help! Don't think I can be one of the bike people. Probably cannot help set up and tear down camp or do the luggage (lifting anything heavy). If there is anything like registration or rest areas along the way that need help, I would love to do that.
What are you thinking about signing up for?
ETA: reading the link you posted right now. I can definitely do poster making and that is something anyone can do at any time before the race. Would anyone like to join me in doing this? We can have a crafty day somewhere.
PAIF and SAIF welcome. IVF questions welcome, too.
I just emailed their volunteer coordinator to ask when the first sign ups will be taken (the "good" spots get filled early from what I remember). I will let everyone know!
I also asked about the volunteer spots in their Denver office as well as pre-events. And I asked for guidelines on making the posters. Overall, I asked about every volunteer things except for being a trainer!

I want to make posters, cheer people on, and possibly be in the tent at a rest stop/lunch stop, handing out snacks and water/gatorade. Maybe they will let me do it all... a couple hours doing each.
So happy that others want to volunteer!

It's a 2 day walk - 26 miles the first day, 13 miles the 2nd day. I think L emailed the volunteer e-mail but we all can, too.
I'm fine with doing any and all - except walking 26 miles in a day. Been there, done that, hurt for a month afterwards.

LOL, ditto!
I'll let everyone know when the volunteer coordinator gets back to me. We can sign up as a volunteer group and still raise money... we just won't have a minimum that we have to reach. I still have my ribbon cookie cutter so I can make pink ribbon cookies for people to volunteer to "sell" and raise donations
