All-in-One Computer Questions....

So I'm finally getting rid of my 8 year old Dell (and I do not want another one)...so I was looking at Best Buy and saw that they now have the All-in-One computers. I was looking at a HP that seemed to fit our needs. We don't use the computer but when we do it's mainly ITunes for my son, surfing the net, and occassionally using Word or Excel. Does anyone have any experience with these computers? Do you have any recommendations?

Thanks...

Re: All-in-One Computer Questions....

  • I can't figure out what makes them different from any other computer they sell at first glance. What do you get for buying an "all-in-one" computer...?

  • They are fine, but you are paying extra for what is essentially a gimmick. And they are more difficult to alter yourself (if you're into that kind of thing).

And monitors break relatively easily...with a regular computer it's easy to replace a broken monitor, but if your all-in-one breaks then you're looking at a costly repair.

  • The only difference I can see is that there is no tower. I'm assuming the hard drive is somewhere in the monitor..I'm only basing this on the other poster's response.
  • I've been looking at new desktops also.  My uncle is a "computer geek" and suggested I stay away from an all-in-one for now unless it's a Mac (which I don't want); they seem to have it down the best so far.  Others are known to have overheating issues, etc.

I have my eye on a ZT desktop at Costco.
