Re: Would you let your child do this?

  • they are latex balloons and would have been out of air today anyway. what's the big deal?

  • I think it's rude they took whole bunches and the weights.  I know our church saves the weights to use at future events... so i do think it's rude people just took the whole thing and went - esp since it sounds like there wouldn't be enough for each child to get at least one this way.

and no-i wouldn't let my child do it unless it was specifically allowed... even if others were doing it.

I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.

Nobody told them to take the balloons.  We were going to cut them from the weights and give the girls a balloon to take as they left, but they just started taking bunches of 5 balloons still attached to the weights!  At the very least you'd think they would have asked if it was okay to take them!

If it were me, I'd just be glad to get rid of them...one less thing for me and the rest of the PTA parents to get rid of.

Maybe previous years this has been the way it went?

    They were pretty balloons

Is it horrible that I would totally steal these balloons too? LOL

  • imageMrs.P0405:

I would also think most Dads have no idea about the weights.

Sometimes I think I would be better suited as a dad. Lol. I had no idea people bought weights specifically to hold down balloons.

But I still wouldn't have let my kid take a whole bunch of balloons anyway.

  • I am so not going to be one of those crafty moms who sews her kid's costumes or decorates for dances. Because really, people save balloon weights? This is news to me. The few times we've gotten balloons for Katie's birthday the party store attached weights as part of the price and we threw them away when the balloons died. It would never have occurred to save them and my husband would kill me if I argued for keeping them.

So to answer the original question, no i wouldn't have a problem with the kids taking the balloons. Like someone else said, they'll be deflated by today anyway.
