We were going to get MH's godson a gold cross for First Communion but everything we found was crappy and/or way overpriced. We gave him $100 I think.

When my godson was baptized I gave my sister a $500 bond, so $250. When my goddaughter was baptized I gave her a Tiffany children's place setting. I think it was $125.

I think it depends if this is your godchild from a friend or your godchild like a niece....I gave my niece 500.00( my godchild) I gave my other godchild (friend's child) 250

Also....In my culture you are supposed to buy all the baptism accessories including oufit which could be expensive

In the Greek Orthodox faith you end up spending a lot. As a Godparent, you buy the cross and chain for your Godchild, all the items needed for the Baptism (candles, towels, oil, Baptismal outfit, etc.), as well as the favors and witness pins for the reception.

We just had my son's Christening and my brother and SIL (godparents) bought him the Christening outfit, as well as a cross. I'm not sure of the exact cost, but I would estimate between $150 and $200.

I bought my goddaughters outfit and gave $350. DS got a cross and 200 bond from godfather and from godmother outfit and $500.

my cousin is my son's godmother and gave him $250 and offered to buy his outfit (i just did cream colored overalls, shirt, socks, shoes from children's place since it was winter and i didn't like the tux style formal outfits i saw at other places).
