Crockpot BBQ Pulled Pork

I have never used a crockpot so please bear with me... I usually make my own BBQ sauce for ribs so I want to use it for this.  Should I make the sauce first and then cook it with the pork in the crockpot or do I just put the sauce ingredients in with the pork and cook it all at the same time?  Do I need to add anything besides BBQ sauce to the meat?  How long does it take (I have about 6lbs of meat)?

Re: Crockpot BBQ Pulled Pork

  • I don't add the BBQ sauce while the pork is cooking.  I cook the pork in the crock pot first, remove any bones & large piece of fat that remain then drain off all the liquid, shred and add the BBQ sauce.
  • Cook the pork in the crockpot with onions and coke. Layer the onions & pork pieces (fat & bone for flavor) and then pour enough coke in to the top. Cook as long as you can. When its done shred the pork & onions & return it to the crockpot and mix it with the bbq sauce. Let that all cook for a while until it's ready to serve.

  • Rub your pork with garlic powder. Cook it in crockpot with can of rootberr 6 to 8 hours.  Shred & cook on low with bbq sauce for hour.

  • Do I cook it on high or low for the 6-8 hours?
  • On low.
