Recommend your belt positioning booster
Do I need to spend the extra money for a Britax, or are they mostly the same?
Re: Recommend your belt positioning booster
Some work better for skinnier kids, etc.

There are quite a few really good boosters out there. All three of these are on the IIHS best bet booster list. Just make sure when choosing a booster that you get one that fits properly meaning that the shoulder belt doesn't cross the neck or fall down on the arm and that the lap belt lies flat across the thighs and not the stomach.
ETA: Is your ticker up to date? If so, then I would stick with a harnessed seat. The usual minimum for a booster is 4 AND 40lbs. My DD won't reach 40lbs for probably 2 more years, so I don't think she will move to a booster until closer to 7.
My DD is four and forty pounds. I won't be using the booster as a main car seat. We will have three vehicles through this summer and I want to buy another seat because we would have to constantly be installing in whichever car. The booster will be used in the "back up" car that DH will use to pick up the kids when I am not going to get off work in time. That is why I was thinking a booster would work.
