I can't post a for rent sign or a for sale sign on my grass area near our front door but apparently it's acceptable for a homeowner to post signs on "COMMUNITY GRASS" demonstrating their support for prop 8???
huh???
Re: how is this fair?
I sent an email to our board president. He responded that the homeowner having the right to free speech. I just countered because this is NOT what it states in our CC&R's.
btw- I still have the citation that states no signs are allowed to be posted on community property. Ours specifically says: Sign on GRASS.
I made a copy of it and emailed it to him. Let him eat his words:)
Money is tight around here because of all of the foreclosures, (no hoa monies when the home goes into foreclosures) so we are all getting cited...lol. Oh and cars are getting towed like crazy:)
Gotta make the monies, right?
In our monthly newsletter it stated that election signs are protected under Freedom of Speech but they could NOT be placed on community property and must be removed promptly after the election.
And um, how are you supposed to sell/rent your place if you can't put a sign out? If it's on your property I'm confused.
Kali- you can put a for sale sign in your window but not anywhere on the grass. We also cannot advertise near the major street because it's considered disneyland property. Ugh, which is a whole 'nother issue. Because we live in what's considered "resort" area, we have higher trash dues...higher utilities...and rules that the city council has mandated on behalf of DL. Every street near my home requires a parking permit or you are towed, no garage sales, and no for sale signs near the major streets.
Rules everywhere:)
That sucks!!!!
I think I'd go back to your HOA president and say that the political sign is on COMMUNITY grass and while putting a sign up is considered freedom of speech that it doesn't have to be on community property ... they can put it in their window!
I swear HOAs can be so stupid sometimes.
