To anyone who feels old ;) (s/o jello shots)
My classmates did jello shots at a birthday party two weeks ago. They're all 23ish. I looked at them and I looked at the tray of shots and I'm sure I had this, "OMG, what are yall? Like 18? Are we actually in graduate school together?" look on my face lol.
But I was at a house party...the loud music, people puking over the porch railing, sticky beer floor kind that I haven't been at in a decade. I will give them props because a few of the girls who like to cook brought spinach dip & Paula Deen cupcakes lol. I had to take a nap beforehand so that I could actually stay awake til the 9pm start time. I spent the next 2 days in a fog trying to recover from, not drinking a drop, but merely staying out til 2 am LOL.So last night I was supposed to go to another similar bday party, but I just couldn't do it. DH texted me this Friends clip off his DVR when I decided to stay home and do Pilates and take a bubble bath LOL.
I naturally forwarded it on to the birthday girl as my apology for skipping her party. I told her she'd understand in 6 or 7 years

Yep, I'm old because the bubble bath sounds awesome to me. At 22 I would do a tray of jello shots. At 36 I would do one and reminisce about the days of yore.
I was 34 before I had my first jello shot... It was at an elementary school teacher end of the year faculty party.
Jaime, cat, you know the jello shots I'm referring to are not nice jello shots! lol You know I'm talking about the Dixie cup + store brand orange jello + generic vodka kind served in frat houses everywhere.
Ginger, shame on you, how did you get through college without that seminal experience?
CJ, I'm 30 and am Ms. Responsibility herself. I left a career to go back to school and I post occasionally about my classmates' immaturity. There's nothing I adore more than a fancy cocktail party
I try to give one every couple months

OMG - I'm way older than you.... 40. My "shots" days are long gone but would give my eye teeth for "date night".

It's rough too when things you remember the first time around become "retro".
Like jello shots, Madonna, neon colors, leg warmers....
I do remember Madonna and leg warmers and neon from the first time around. To see leg warmers and neon on the 18 yo freshmen on campus is weird. Plain white Keds were in style in 2010-2011 on campus and that was strange too.
Did you see the Super Bowl half time show? Everything on my FB feed was divided by whether or not you knew Madonna the first time around. (I had older cousins who worshiped her, so I did too
)

Yes! My DH and I were watching it last night. Haven't gone on FB yet - but I'm sure there will be some interesting comments. It was fun watching her! When she first became popular I really liked her very first songs "Lucky Star" and "Borderline" etc. - Can you imagine her singing those when she's 64?
Haven't seen plain white keds yet - but that is strange...
