We close on the house in 5 days, and I still can't believe it. I just want to be out of here! We still have this current appt. until Feb. 29th, so we're packing slowly.
I'm so excited that I wont have to:
Walk upstairs outside to get into the appt (hello ice and snow)
Unplug the microwave every time I want to use the toaster oven (not enough plugs)
Stand on my tip toes to put something in the microwave (it's on top of the fridge)
Be able to touch the ceiling with my finger tips when I stand
Walk down a long driveway and across the street to get my mail
Worry about cows jumping over the fence into my yard
Worry about men seeing me if I want to simply lay in a chair out in the sun
Worry about who is coming up the stairs (we don't have a peep hole)
Unload a bunch of pans and dishes from our oven when I want to bake
Keep a lot of my clothes in piles because there's one real closet for the two of us
Worry about hitting the kitchen table when I open up the oven or fridge
and many, many other things, including seeing DH's uncle. Sigh. 5 days!

I know that DH and I will look back on this place and "remember the times," and I definitely know that I'll probably cry when we look at it for the last time, and shut the door. Honestly, I'm happy that this place will really make us so grateful for our first home.
Of course!
DH swears he can have everything that I want done by March 1st...I feel a bet coming on...haha
So exciting, Melko! I know you want to get out of that apt so bad. And these kitchens sound like the one my dad describes from growing up, that if you were having dinner at the kitchen table and it was full and you wanted to leave the kitchen, you had to go out the backdoor and come round to the front door!
Our kitchen is so small we can't fit a table it in, it's on the other side of the wall in the living room. At least there's an opening in front of the sink with a narrow counter you can pass things through.

This made me laugh!
I'm so excited for you guys!! All the weird/terrible/strange things about your current apartment will make you love your house so much more. And I agree with all the requests for pictures!
