1 yr girl present ideas

I need your help again!  This time I'm shopping for a girl's first birthday party.  I was thinking books maybe?  Any ideas for age appropriate ones?  Or any other suggestions?

  • Books are always great.  I want to do a book party for DS's 1st b-day party.  Sandra Boyton (I think that's her name) writes some super cute ones.  Our favorite is Barnyard Dance.  Or Dr Seuss.  Or the ones with doors and windows and flaps to open on the pages (does that make sense?). Or super easy puzzles.  Or those Melissa & Doug wooden play sets.  I'd be thrilled to get any of the above for his first birthday!
  • I love the board books. S can 'read' them himself or with me without fear of him ripping them (which is what he is doing to all his others!) Also he loves his ball popper or his vaccuum.

  • These are a bit older than for a 1yo, but we got our niece a couple of books from the "Do Princesses...." series:

Books are always great (IMO!).  Blythe loved her baby doll stroller and swing for her first birthday, and she also got a Baby Stella doll that she still loves.

If you have time to order, they're available online and are also on clearance. I don't think girls have much as far as blocks and such. I like that these are girly, but not over the top. They include red, blue, and green. They're not as big as I thought they'd be, but they're not small. I'm happy with them.

Otherwise, clothes are always fun in my opinion!

  • Books are great, Lyra loves any hard books--specifically, you're my little love bug, princess(about princess jess and the party she is going to), olivia, whoo loves you?, This little piggy. If you need more let me know. She also loves any books with animals, especially touch and feel which I have found cheapest at walmart (in the toy section) so far.
  • At Target, in the kids book section, they have this box of like 10 or 12 little books.  They have an Elmo set, Mickey Mouse set, and Baby Einstein set.  Jameson got these for his first birthday and my kids LOVE them.  That's usually my go-to for first birthdays.  The best part is that they are like $10, so I usually throw in a little stuffed animal or another book or something.

  • I was just asking this question for my own son - the best gift he got was a zoo pass!
