FB business page owners

How do you get more people to "like" your page?  I don't want to pay to promote it so is it mainly word of mouth? Thanks

Re: FB business page owners

  • I do a lot of networking with other shops.  I participate in a lot of giveaways other boutiques do, so ppl have to "like" my page to be entered.  And my friends have been really great about getting my shop out there to other people.

  • I was stuck in the 60s for a long time (months), so I shared my Page status on my personal account saying I wanted to get to 100 by the end of the month - I also invited people to like the page by using the "Invite Friends" option on the right.  I exceeded 100 in less than 24 hours of that.

ETA - also, once you get the likes, you have to keep people engaged in the page to keep it showing up on their newsfeed - I try to post at least 3-4 times a week at different times/days from my page either yoga promoting classes or workshops I', teaching or asking relevant questions. With the way FB is set up now, people will see when people "like" or respond to your updates.

  • In addition to the other ideas, promote it everywhere- all marketing pieces, website, email signatures...using links, QR codes, etc. You can use apps to create a static page that people "like" to access content- coupons, promotions, whatever. I think FB has gotten pretty strict with doing contests/ promotions where people have to "like" you to enter, so I'd google to find the latest rules on that stuff.
  • two of the big ways for me are: fb address in my email siggy, and when i had an ad run for a few months last year it had people directed to my fb page. once you have like 100 fans you can make a short address (like facebook.com/karisbiz  and that makes life so much easier)

I didn't realize that about the shortened address.  I'm actually trying to get to 100 so I can do a giveaway.  I will remember that though for when I do get there, thanks.

They've actually changed this now, you only need 25 fans in order to add a username and have the personalized url.
