kmslwsmrs - your lease

Can you elaborate a little on your experience with the lease?

My lease isn't up until Oct, but I'm going to hit my mileage limit in a month or two.  We were planning on going over President's Day weekend to scope things out, but I'm worried about the miles thing.  How did it work for you?

Re: kmslwsmrs - your lease

  • The dealership/company that the lease was through wasn't helpful at all.  I called to see if I could get out of it early (since they USED to send things out all the time to get out of your lease less than 6 months early) since I knew the mileage was going to be way over (like at least 2k over) and I needed something bigger with 3 kids, but they said they don't do deals like that anymore and leases are hard to come by anymore.  So, I had to go hunting for a dealership that would buy it out (I only had like 1k left of payments) and luckily I found a dealership that would roll the payments into the new car I was buying.  So I basically negotiated the dealership wit hthe new car down 1k and had them roll in the 1k that I owed...so they didn't technically buy me out, they just rolled in my last three payments and took the car.

  • butting in: I turned in both our leases early but went back to the same dealership. with Ford it was only 3 months but we would have been over, so they ate those payments and we ended up financing a new Edge through them. I also turned in a crv with honda early for a pilot, again we ended up financing bc it was a better deal and a more expensive vehicle. good luck!

  • Nicole - This is good to know!  My lease is up in November but I think by August or so we will be close to our mileage.  We do want another Ford from the same dealer so I am going to give it a try.  Was it from All-American?
