Monday, Monday Randoms

I do not feel well, mentally or physically, so I'm staying home today. How was everyone's weekend? Win any Super Bowl pool money?

Re: Monday, Monday Randoms

  • SS was gone for most of the weekend with his G-ma. She took him shopping for new shirts. DH and I kept it pretty quiet and just chilled and enjoyed the quiet.

I've been surfing for the commercials from last nights game. I can't say I've found one that stands out.

I also found out I won't be ing to NJ like planned. BFF dates changed again for her to leave for basic. She is now being told May, maybe?
  • Molly, I hope you feel better soon.  Perhaps a quiet day off is just what you need.

Deeder, check out the Chrysler Clint Eastwood "Halftime in America" ad.  It's impressive.

I watched the Super Bowl last night with THE most annoying woman in the world.  We were at our friends' house and they had another friend there who screamed for like three hours.  She screamed during every play, for every ad, and during the half-time show.  She didn't yell, she didn't cheer... she screamed.  And she really didn't even know *** about football either.  OMG, I was so annoyed.  Completely ruined the evening.

  • Oh my gosh, Kasa, that sounds horrible! :(
  • Sorry that your trip is being postponed, Deeder. :( A change if plans like that would be really disappointing.

It was so difficult to concentrate on the game that I started playing with the kids.  I'm not sure what that means when the most enjoyable part of my evening was playing with the hosts' kids.  Ha!

Anyway, I told B that we're never leaving our house for the Super Bowl again.  Hehe.  I was irritated.

  • So, I took Friday afternoon off and primarily worked on my photo sorting project.  I was also able to spend some other time on it over the weekend too.  I'm finally making some significant progress!  That makes me feel good.
  • Feel better Molly.

That would ruin it for me too Kasa.

Morning. I'm tired. But I need to just get through this week. I took next Monday and Tuesday off to spend some time with B in GR. Looking forward to that, and you know, staying in the bed past 6AM.

  • My favorite commercial last night was the Audi vampires one.

My paper is now just one page short of the minimum.  I may or may not increase it by tomorrow morning.  I think I need to do a bit more research to increase my page count and I'm not sure if I have the time to do that tonight.

  • we had a totally lazy weekend. It was great.
  • Weekend was a little rough here.

Spent Th-Sat with my family on the east side = lots of driving.

My car decided to spew its power steering fluid yesterday before we went to church. Each time the car is turned on, it spurts out more fluid.

DS has had a cough for what seems like ages, and it finally started affecting his sleep enough that we got him into the pediatrician's open hours this morning. Add him to the list of "kids with inhalers." :( He has a restricted airway and has been wheezing, which makes him cough. Poor kid couldn't speak a full sentence without stopping to cough since Friday. He had a breathing treatment in the office and his lungs cleared up, so it's not bronchitis or pneumonia. Now he has an inhaler to use every 3hr around the clock until it's under control.

And DH and I are supposed to leave for a short (work) trip to Vegas tonight.

  • Feel better D&M!

Kasa, that would annoy me too.

We got Baby J's allergy test results back.  He is highly allergic to Dairy (which I already knew) and Eggs.  Moderately allergic to Wheat and Peanuts.  To say I am overwhelmed and confused would be an understatement.  (And I have a degree in nutrition!)

Also the Dr, says J has over a 80% chance of developing asthma and being allergic to pets.   So right now, I have to do everything I can to limit his exposure to Gracie.(Which just breaks my heart, they adore each other).

Ok enough of my vent. Big Smile

  • Katers, sorry to hear that Caleb has been sick.  Hope he feels better soon.

Mira, that would be so hard!  Good luck managing J's allergies.  I'm sure you'll do a great job once you finish getting your head around this.

  • Major hugs to the moms with/and kids that have allergies and/or asthma. :(
  • I am still in bed. I *really* need to get up and do laundry. :(

  • ugh for sick kids. SS is pretty health so were lucky with that.

I should be doing some meal planning right now but I'm not. Food budget is extremely tight this week until Sat and then I'm loading up at Sobie's Meat sale.

Mol: DH is still in bed but I'm up doing laundry.

  • I did it. Put one load away, one in the washer, and in in the dryer.
I need to clean. Literally, need. It's the only way my "mental" part of my illness will get better. I feel a lot better having accomplished something.
However, I'm right back in bed. :)
  • I have to go to doctors tonight for the yearly physical and then have to clean bathroom and tub when I get home. Yuck!

  • Laundry, round 2, is complete. I found my bedroom floor.
I think I'm going to get up and run a few errands in a minute. Meanwhile, I'm back in bed.
  • So, I called to get an appointment for a physical  at my new Dr. over there, hoping I could get in next month. She's booked until the end of April dangit!

  • I can't belivee this weekend took so long. Thn again I actually "worked" thing weekend. Friday I helped a freind move out of a house that had no heat. So I was freezing all day! the worst part of it was she moven from Leonard and North in GR all the way down to Allegan. Then all of her stuff didnt go to one place. It went to 3 differant places. And we had an issue returning the rental truck.

Then Saturday I helped my MIL out with some stuff related to her business and ended  up on my feet for the better part of 4 hours. Thankfully my feet didnt swell up to bad.

Sunday we got up and were about halfway ready for church and got a text saying that H's best friend had her baby. So we were bad and skipped church and went to see the baby! He is sooo cute. I can't wait for baby Jack to get here so I have him to look at all of the time.

I dont want to do anything today but I am going to have to go grocery shopping. I guess its time to figure out whats on sale! Have a good day!

  • Laundry, round 3, really needs to get done. On it's own. Ha.
I gathered up all of our tax documentation and called to make an appointment. It was either tomorrow at 9, or sometime next week. I took the appt for tomorrow, and feel really guilty that I'm missing all of today and then most of tomorrow morning of work. (u/s #3 is tomorrow at 11:30...this will really really help with my "mental" illness of today.)
I hate missing so much work, but it's good for my sanity right now.
  • How do babies develop allergies?  I'm sorry you're dealing with this, Mira.  It does sound overwhelming.  I just wonder why it seems like severe allergies are a much bigger problem now than they were in the past.

There a lots of theories.  From Vaccines, csection births, pregnant mom's diet to genetics.   Personally for us, I think genetics plays a big role.  My dad was allergic to milk and eggs, and luckily out grew it around elementary age.  Also I think we are more aware of them now, and that leads to more diagnoses.

I actually read a very interesting article over the weekend that said back in the hunter/gather days, humans would eat, on average, 200 different foods in a year.  And now due to globalization and food being available year round, humans only eat around 20 different foods!

Both my Dad and I are allergic to Whole Milk. I could be breast feed as a kid and as of today I can only manage to have skim milk. I'm trying to convince my Mom that when she switched Dr that she ask for a full work up including test for food allergies.

Reading this just now reminded me that I have a load to switch out. Thanks.

  • I hate hate hate to admit this, but holy crap I'm a wreck. H just called me and I broke down in tears. I called a plumber for some work and he was so rude. Thankfully I didn't break down on him - that would have been so embarrassing. Ha.
Ugh. I usually leave these kind of tasks for H to do, but with me being off I tried to step up. And now I'm crying. Ha. I'm going to take a nap now. Enjoy your afternoon!
