Look how cute he is! I just love his face! I took him to a doggy play date yesterday and he met so many people. He was so brave and went up for pets and treats! So proud of the little guy. He was a little too nervous to play much but when things started settling down he started to play with a little eskie puppy.
And while we were working on socialization and training at petsmart we met some awesome rescue people who invited us to join them at their adoption events

Moving forward with domestic infant adoption!
Well he was having a lot of issues. Escaped twice, barking all day. The vet suggested Benadryl before he goes in which actually helped. He can finish kongs now whereas before he was too anxious to do anything but try to escape. I'd get home and his kong would be completely filled with treats! He'd only start eating it once I let him out. He still barks for a bit before I leave but he settles down. I think he probably barks during the day too for short periods based on when we tried to get him to sleep in his crate at night, but much better than he was doing. We also moved him in with the other dogs (moved him out because his barking was disturbing to them) and leave the radio on for him now. That combination seems to really be helping.
So at this point we're working on crating for variable periods of time. Hopefully that helps him too. He is so willing to run right in his crate so we're doing something right. I still think he might not be great for an apartment but I don't think it will be a hindrance to his adoption otherwise. He is making so much progress on socialization and confidence that I know he'll get there.
Here he is at his doggy meetup this weekend
"I don't know if I like it here.."
"Hey, you look nice! I'm a puppy too!"
"You're also a puppy!?! You are a big puppy!"
All three of them were wallflowers during the play group, but then when things started settling down they realized that maybe it is okay to play after all.
Aww, poor guy. Sounds like he is making progress, though!
Not to be a broken record, but we are still really sad that it fell through with us. I think we're hoping against hope that he sticks around with you for a few months. We may be able to buy our house by then, but I'm sure that would just be too perfect to work out. He is going to make some family very happy, that's for sure!
I think he feels more comfortable at these off leash things because he has more control over who he sees and everything is on his own terms. He doesn't like men but he really warmed up to a older teenage boy and went up to an older gentleman who was sitting down. I need to figure something out for adoption events because he gets frightened when people lean over him.
Snow!
