My ears are bleeding from the whining!!!

Travis has a huge vocabulary.  But he is so whiny lately.  I ask him to use his words and tell me what he wants.  Then I ask him to show me what he wants.  Then I give up after multiple tries of both which then causes even more whining.  I can't stand it, but not sure what to do.  As the subject in question walks up with two small pillows for some hugs and kisses   Two year olds are weird!

The whining drives us bonkers. Especially since K is fully capable of speaking in complete sentences to get her point across.

We don't engage her when she is whining.  We say to her, "what is that voice," and that usually snaps her out of it but when it doesn't we won't engage her or get her what she wants until she uses a normal voice.  Sometimes that results in a tantrum which again we don't respond to but without fail, whenver she is done tantruming or whining she ALWAYS tells us what she wants in a non-whiny voice so I know she can do it.  Whining sucks!
