So girls...this is a very exciting time for me. Being PG means I actually now fill my b-cup bras with a little cleave! But it's starting to get uncomfortable. I have no idea if I will get any bigger, so I'm stuck on when I should buy bras? Did you just buy cheapies to hold you over for each size increase, or did you buy something a little bigger, assuming you would fill it eventually?
Also, I just bought myself a belly band for my work pants, but it's a little on the obvious side since I'm not "out" yet at work. I definitely don't need maternity pants yet - at this point my pants are a just a little on the tight side but they loosen up after wearing them all day. What did you do for this issue?
Re: clothes and PG
I wore my regular size bra to the very end, when i used wireless nursing bras (my belly held up my boobs). but i have very large breasts so buying cheapees did not exist.
i wore items that had some give. i wore skirts/ dresses in the beginning.
i bought up a cup size around the second tri and didn't need to go up again until nursing bras. hit up marshalls or tjmaxx and see if a c or d fits better and get 3 or 4 and see how it goes.
i ditto lachute with dresses and skirts. i wore the crap out of dresses and tights last year because they just were more comfortable and i didn't have to get a ton of new stuff.
i also think that you are probably less noticeable than you think..... i highly doubt the boys in your class will realize anything and since its winter a bulkier look isn't too out of place in general.
Hi!
For bras I went to Macy's and bought 2-3 transitional bras. They were just normal bras with underwire but I went up 1-2 sizes and made sure I got thicker straps. I think my boobs got bigger very quickly but stayed about the same size until I gave birth - then they exploded. That's when I got 3-4 nursing bras and even wore some loose fitting sports type bras.
For pants, I used a hair band to close them when I could no longer button them but before I could use the belly bands. Just loop it through the button hole and attach it to the button. You need a longer shirt that will cover up your zipper, though, if it creeps down.
Hope you're feeling great!
i bought a bra hook extender, but haven't had to use it yet.
i have been in maternity pants since like week 9 b/c anything on my waist made me a little pukey. and now at week 19 i'm busting out.
i wear tights w/ dresses to work everyday so that's an option.
they sell this strip of fabric called a bee band thinger at target that you can wear over your pants that are unzipped.
i have been given two, but honestly dont love walking around with my pants undone- even if its covered up. just feels weird.
i'd start looking at maternity pants soon - you'll need them eventually. gap has nice ones.
My boobs have not yet increased in size a damn inch, but I am waiting for that day! (A cup here).
As for pants, I'm in the in between phase too. I use a hair tie for pants that are a little too uncomfortable to button. I also focus on wearing flowy shirts (these are lifesavers: http://www.nyandcompany.com/nyco/browse/productDetailWithPicker.jsp?productId=prod4940017&categoryId=&productId=prod4940017&categoryId=)
I also bought maternity boot cut jeans from Old Navy for like $15 and they're awesome for weekends. They have an elastic waist band which I am sure eventually will not be as comfortable as full panel, but for now are great and honestly look just like my other jeans.
Thanks, ladies. I think I will try to hit up Marshalls this week and see if I can find a bra or 2 that fit better.
I think I might have to break down and at least try a pair of pants. I am really struggling with the idea of growing out of my pants. I know it's for a great reason, but I imagine everyone must go through this in the beginning - especially when you don't look PG yet, instead you look like you ate way to many stuffed shells.
Thanks, LD - I am feeling okay. Not great, but I bought Sea Bands last week and they definitely take the edge off of my nausea. Now it really only hits me hard if I get too hungry - so I am just making sure I always have snacks available.
Re pants - I was able to find a few clearance maternity jeans at target and Gap.com for when you're ready for them.
Also, ms sucks. It sucks so bad. Mine magically went away in 2nd tri and I felt great, but I ended up breaking down and getting a rx for Zofran b/c I lost almost 10 lbs. Other non drug things that work - things with real ginger in them. I also bought a whole ginger root and shaved it into my water jug each day. Good luck.
I wouldn't be shy about trying maternity pants. I started wearing them fairly early because they were just more comfortable than the bella band or anything else. I'm a big fan of the Gap pants with the demi panel and they're still comfortable for me approaching the 3rd tri.
As for bras, I held out as long as I could and finally bought a new one about a month ago. I have big bo0bs to begin with, so cheap wasn't an option. I'm pretty much wearing this one every day and just washing it as needed and wearing a sports bra in between. I refuse to spend a ton on bras when I don't know if I'll be changing again. But if you can get away with cheapies, more power to you.
I takes being pregnant to realize that pregnancy pants are the single great invention of all time - just embrace it. I had Gap trouser pants for work, and otherwise lived in maternity Gap long and lean jeans.
All women should be blessed with pants hat essentially have a pair of spanx attached.
I was seriously just telling my friend today that all women should wear maternity pants. I can't imagine ever going back to regular pants.
I wore my regular bras my whole first pregnancy. Then I BFed and had to keep going up in size. (I bought Bravado nursing bras.)
Gap and H&M are great for maternity clothes. Good luck.
