The Middle East would be a good place to try this. Apparently the highest temperature on record was 136 deg in Libya in 1922.

And the ground, particularly pavement, gets even hotter than the air temp. I remember something about the ground temp in Death Valley being 200-something. If I didn't have to get out of the car I would totally try this there.

Death Valley holds the #2 spot in hottest temps. It was 134 there once. I bet you could fry an egg on Fresno asphalt. That would definitely make it to 158 deg in the summer!

The whites started to turn opaque around the edges, but I can't say that it sizzled or anything. Of course, this was in Oregon and not Fresno or Death Valley!

LOL or Libya! The hottest I've ever experienced (in Fresno) was 116, I think. So not nearly the hottest temps on record but pretty hot!
