I don't care if I seem paranoid!

I think Coop has an ear infection coming on.  He is getting over a cold (as am I, or at least we are TRYING to,) and he is fussy and shrugging his little shoulders up to his ears a lot, he is really screechy, and just seems cranky.

I told Miss Deb this morning that I was going to try and get him in to see the doc, and she is always a "Better safe than sorry" kind of lady (like me,) but when I called to tell them I was coming to get him at 2, one of the other caregivers had a lot of surprise in her voice.

I don't care if I error on the side of overly cautious when it comes to this.  If something bacterial is going on in there, I am not interested in waiting until he can't sleep at all and is a miserable mess.

If they tell me all is well, that is fabulous.  I will pay my copay and check to make sure.

  • ya gotta trust those maternal instincts!  Like you said, better safe than sorry & if its nothing, then at least you have that peace of mind!
no identifiable siggy pictures anymore, thanks a lot stupid nest!
  • I'm totally on the "better safe than sorry" bandwagon.  Can't tell you how often we've gone in for ear checks for DS in the last year.  Pediatrician doesn't care and it's none of the caregiver's business anyway!  DS has had two stomach bugs this winter with no fever or any other symptoms which has ensued 2-3 calls to the neurosurgery clinic because we've worried his shunt is malfunctioning (vomiting is a symptom of a malfunction)...I hope he doesn't have an ear infection!

  • trust your instincts.  I remember DD's infant teacher looked at me like I was crazy when I picked her up to go the the dr with a "she has an ear infection".  Yeah, mama was right.  You'll find you are easily right 80-90% of the time.  You know your kid best!
