Birthday party on a Sunday?

I'm trying to plan J's birthday.  His actual b-day this year falls on a Sunday.  I'm wondering if that's when I should have his kid party OR if I should do it the day before.  It will probably be 1:30-3:30 time frame.  It will be at our house, so I would kinda like all day Saturday to get ready for it.    We'll also do a grandparent party, most likely separate from the kid party.  I'd like to do that immediately after the kid party, but can't decide if that's too much party for one day or not.

WWND---Do you think it's ok to do it on a Sunday- or should I just do it the day before?

Re: Birthday party on a Sunday?

  • i would probably do the kids party on saturday and then do the low key family stuff on sunday
  • I would definitely separate the parties by a day.  It's too much otherwise.  Which you want to do when is up to you.  The last 2 parties DD has been invited to have been on a Sunday around lunch time.

  • I think it's okay to do it on Sunday, if that's what you want.  I tend to like Saturday parties because I like Sunday for relaxing, getting ready for the week ahead.  But I don't think there's anything wrong with doing it on Sunday.

  • We've always done birthday parties on sundays so I think it is fine..  In fact Lucy has a party this coming Sunday afternoon to go to.

  • I see NO reason not to have a party on a Sunday.  I usually pick Sunday on purpose.  gives me more time to get ready, bake and decorate the cake, etc... no one has ever complained - at least where I can hear it.

As long as you do something easy for your family dinner then I say go for having both on one day.  that way it's only 1 day of getting ready, cleaning up, etc.. and not w.

  • we are having molly's 2nd birthday party at little gym from 3:30 until 5.  They had saturdays available but i liked the available times better on sunday.  so i hope a sunday birthday is ok.  so far no one has said anything like why would you schedule on a sunday???!!! so i guess its ok

    This!!!

  • I have no problem with a Sunday party.  Although I would hate a 1:30-3:30pm time as that is prime nap time for little kids (at least mine).  I realize a lot of 5 year olds don't nap anymore, but many might have younger siblings that do and it might be tough for parents.

  • Since I work on Sundays, I don't like Sunday parties because I can't go. Lydia's missed out on quite a few parties that were on Sundays. I assume for most, they're okay!

  • I've had N's party on Sundays and I've been to other kid's parties on Sundays.   Never thought to question it.
