Garage door installation-I should be tipping, correct?

Hi,

We are having our new garage door installed tomorrow (hooray for no longer worrying the door is going to fall off of the house, lol).  I should be tipping the guy doing the install, right?  It takes about 6 hours-how much would you tip?

working for a contractor i don't think you need to tip (but i also think people on the nest tip for everything)

its a nice thought BUT the guy is getting paid and probally a decent rate.

i don't tip any contractors that come into my house. now a stylist/or a mover or something along those lines YES but i don't think its necessary to tip any contractor

we didn't tip. I think DH offered cold drinks as it was summer or spring - i remember it being warm.

We didn't tip as our door was part of our punch list and it was expected. Even if that wasn't the case I'd still wouldn't have tipped. I'd offer something to drink; that's it.

 And yes I never heard of certain tipping practices until I came to the Nest!

• my dad installs railings and doesn't usually get tipped. don't get me wrong, he loves getting a tip when a homeowner decides to give him one, but it's not the norm.

we usually give the guys at $20 and some cold drinks while they work. We had 3 new doors and openers installed, it was a day long job and gave them $60 and lunch. They were very nice about us being in and out and the kids around.

I dont tip hired contractors.  I know I pay enough to have things installed, I don't get why I need to tip more.
