I can't decide! WWYD?

Ok, so this is a bit of a bragplaint. I can't decide which hotel to book at the beach in Thailand. Oh, woe is me!!

1. On the beach. Newer. More expensive. Mostly good reviews on tripadvisor, but the manager replied to negative ones in a very defensive and off-putting manner, so we are concerned about customer service.

2. Overlooks the mangroves, but a 5 minute walk to the beach that hotel 1 is on. Also good reviews for the newer rooms, but just ok reviews for older rooms. Cheaper. The biggest drawback is that when the tide goes down there is apparently a lot of trash floating around in the water on that side.

Which evil do you go with? A potentially nasty location or a potentially terrible service?

  • Go for on the beach!
  • Beach. Look at the positive - MOSTLY good reviews.  There are always going to be people who find something to comp[lain about.

  • Definitely 1.
    Oh, FFS.
  • I am trying to find one of the manager replies to the reviews. You will find them pretty interesting.

I thought 1 had better reviews, but 2 does actually.

  • It turns out that the manager comments were from a different hotel (although this one still has service complaints), but I thought I would share them anyhow because I think they are funny. In one of them (not included below), he actually tells the reviewer to stay at a different hotel next time. lol.

Thank you so much for your review. I'm really sorry to know that your stay with us unsatisfied. But i don't think that our staff here never smile or say hello. Basically, hotel staff was trained to say "Hi" and "Smile". I do apologize again about Restaurant services.
Refer to 8' O'clock Tsunami tower testing. You probably send e-mail to Government to ask them why they have to do testing at 08.00 am. But this situation always happen on 1 and 16 every month. No one complaint because they know that it is better way to secure from disaster.

Also, i don't think our staff little speak English. You are Spanish or Italian. English is not your native or you probably don't understand us.

    Repeat thanks for your review.

    Sincerely,

I think this next response was written to the wrong person, because their review was just not that bad.

First of all thank you so much for your review. I am person who check in upon your arrival.
1). We have to cancel airport transfer because we receive cancellation note from your agency (Expedia) then, we not send our car pick you up.
2). I think you are unhappy with first time arrival then you continue to annoy anything in our resort.
    3) Front desk staff who you throw your flip-flop to her. It is very impolite manner you do.  There are a lot of guests were checking out.
    4) Of course, i always response negative review and explain our future guest to know that sometimes unhappy guest can write more story than the right one.

    Sincerely,

  • #1, but we generally don't use any extra services so the customer service negative reports would not be a concern for me.
