Family picture question

Either way, DH and I will wear fairly neutral colors- white, black, maybe a champagne color dress for me that I just got..SO the real question is about the girls...

Do you think its cheesy/dumb to put them all in the same dress for family pics?

If so, do you prefer same color dresses? Same dress different color (if I could find that option!) or totally unique for each girl with maybe complementing shades/styles? Mostly I worry about too much print or just too busy in general.

Please justify your answer! ;) Thanks for your input!

My beautiful girls: Hadley 9.28.06, Emmerson 11.29.08 and Pilar 2.07.11, born premature at 33.3 weeks.

Re: Family picture question

  • I'd opt for something in a similar color, but not exactly the same.  For example, DD's picture in my siggy is really bright purple, but I wore a lavendarish shirt and DH wore cream.  We looked cohesive, but not matchy matchy.  I'm not crazy about kids wearing the same dresses.

  • I prefer to have coordinating clothing. For our family photos we chose rich colors with different textures and layers. This is my preference over white/ black/ cream/ etc which can wash you out in photos. I agree with PP that cohesive, not matchy, is a good choice. GL!

  • Same dress is fine if you have it.  I prefer coordinating myself and complementing shades and styles.

Here are some ideas :) I also prefer not super matchy but using similar color tone and coordinating that way. I do think you want a little texture and pattern as well.

  • I definitely prefer coordinated outfits.  Our last photos included green and brown.

  • Thanks for the pintrest site! I tried to look there but couldn't find much!

Ok, pop of color is key! Maybe some brown, bright pink and white or cream would be good. DH looks awesome in brown and I am sure I can do some pink and brown for the girls. That is my plan! Off to find some dresses! ;)

  • We always do matching dresses for the girls.  I think it's cute...  I don't know what we'll do with a boy now thought!

  • Not sure if you're fb friends with taratru, but her latest family portraits were really well coordinated.
  • Are we Facebook friends?  I'm pretty good at coordinating outfits and you can see them all on there. :)
