Dear Nesties,
I just found out that Madonna is coming to town on Oct. 20th. No word on when tickets go on sale. As an "old" Madonna fan, I am conflicted. I'm pretty sure she's going to perform her new album which I care nothing about. However, on the off chance that she might perform some of her old material, I would want to be there. I don't know what to do!!!!!!
Re: OL Tuesday
Dear Divison MGR
When I come to your office tell you that my child is running a 102 fever and I need leave to go pick him up I don't need any lip from you. I know that it was only 10:45 on Friday, we already had one person out but I have no other choice but to go get him.
signed mom with sick babies.
Dear Divison MGR's Wife
Thank you for taking you dear husband out to lunch last friday and ripping him a new one for being a rudea$$. When he came back from this lunch with you he so nice and understanding that I have a sick baby.
Thanks from one mom to another
Dear DH-
I'm sorry you feel so crappy and hope you get to feeling better soon.
Dear John leguizamo-
I still have not decided whether I want to fork over the money to see you or not.
Dear grandma-
I know that you are an adult and you do not *have* to inform me of your travels but being that I am your 'person', it's nice to know when you are on the road. I inform you of when we are traveling far away, not that you remember, and it would be nice if you would do the same.
Dear eyes-
It really bums me out that you can't see diddly squat without glasses or contacts now.
Julie,
I would say go. There is a high possiblity she will do the old stuff and I heard she's an awesome performer.
Clynn,
Good that he realized he was wrong.
Jaymi,
Are you thinking abour Lasik?
Dear self,
Please get the motivation to wake up and go to the gym. You use to wake up at 4:15 to go to work. Waking up at 6 should be a piece of cake. Get it together!

Oh, no! In the past I've been able to see my laptop without any help as long as it's like a foot away but on Sunday the screen had to be right in front of my face. For some reason I dislike being on the computer with glasses.
Dear Julie, I would say go too! I almost have a small urge to go myself.
Dear Bri, I just looked at your pictures AGAIN!! LOVE!
Dear Ladies,
Thanks for the encouragement. I have mentioned it to Bill but no response back. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Dear Student,
Just because you are done with the current assignment doesn't mean we're not going to do anything else for the day. You will stay here. I am responsible for you. You should do your band work during band or after school. Most of you are almost late to very late every day when coming from band to my class.
Dear May,
Hurry up! I want to be laying on the beach in Cancun now!
Dear Lady in my neighborhood walking your two large dogs,
If you can't hold on to their leashes and your dogs are aggressive, there is no possible explanation for walking them without a muzzle on. We are all lucky that your dogs didn't hurt mine when attacking. As I told you, I better not EVER catch you walking those dogs without a muzzle. I will call the authorities.

Michelle,
How scary. Nothing happened to you right? Is it a neighbor of yours or someone just in the neighborhood?

Dear Julie, Um, seeing Madonna perform at the superbowl was plenty for me, personally. But I'm sure she'll do her old stuff.
Dear Jaymi, I am now using reading glasses to see my phone. I do OK with my contacts, but the reading glasses do help. But I tried to use my phone wearing my regular glasses the other night and it was impossible. Quite depressing.
Dear Deepthi, I know what you mean. I had to force myself to work out today--it was one of those days that I just did NOT want to do it. But now I feel great. You're never going to WANT to do it so don't wait for that to happen. Just start getting up every day and do it, make it a habit, that's the best advice I can give. Pretty soon your body will just go on autopilot.

I would have gone to see her years ago if she had come to Dallas, but it has been many years since she even came here. I would have preferred to see her back then but I'm tempted to go just so I can say that I saw her in my lifetime. I used to love her so much but I've been off her for a while.
Dear 12:15,
Hurry up please. I love half days.
I have a scratch or two, and so does Sarge (my dog). Nothing serious. It could have been a LOT worse. We were lucky that dog wasn't trying to kill Sarge, was just being an aggressive bully. I'm pretty sure my scratches are from Sarge too. I don't blame him, he was just trying to defend himself. It wasn't a close neighbor. We were about 1/2 a mile from the house on a walk in the neighborhood. They were on a walk too, so I don't know where they live.

Did your lovely neighbor say anything back to you?
I remember being chased by a Doberman multiple times when walking home from school in elementary school. I was terrified and, to this day, I will not even pet one!
<sarcasm>
She was REALLY SORRY! She didn't mean for this to happen. She promises she will always have a muzzle on them when she takes them out.

Well, she better hope that she doesn't run into you again without them being muzzled. Be sure to take pictures of both your and Sarge's injuries. I know they were minor but cover yourself.
I agree with Stephie. When I started working out last summer, I dreadddddded it but after a couple of weeks, I was okay with it and sometimes even looked forward to it if it was a certain workout. But I don't know how you guys work out in the morning...it's not for me. The times I have tried it, I just stared at the TV and didn't feel like I was putting 100% into it and knew I wasn't getting 100% out of it so it was pretty pointless to me.
Dear Nesties with remodeling experience,
Bill got his bonus yesterday (yay!!!!) and we are moving forward with flooring. I read recently (or maybe someone told me) that actually using real wood is very expensive and you will not recoup the cost when you sell the house. Do we know how true this is? Also, what do any of you know about engineered hardwood? It says that it can be in high moisture areas and I would really like to get rid of the tile since we have cracks. Our current plan is to put wood/whatever in the dining room, living room and all three bedrooms. I think I would still like the tile to be in the bathrooms but I would like the entry and the kitchen to be in the wood/whatever too. Just looking for knowledge/opinions.
Yay for bonuses! I don't know anything about wood. I just know I don't like laminate. If the whole house is laminate, it's ok I guess. But I have been in houses that have both real wood and laminate and trust me, you can tell the difference. Maybe Sara will chime in--she has some of the most beautiful hardwood flooring in her house I have ever seen.
As far as recouping, it really depends on your neighborhood I think. We could put in hard wood floors and it would not make one penny of difference in what we could ask for our house--we have already improved our house for our area as much as we can and anything else we add will simply be for our own enjoyment

See, there are several foreclosures in our area and already several houses for sale. One of our asst. principals used to live in my town (not my neighborhood though) and it took them two years to sell their house. Right now, we're thinking of putting it on the market at the end of 2013. If we adopt, we'll want the kids to have bedrooms that are bigger than some bathrooms (seriously, both of the other bedrooms are so small that a twin takes up about half the room!).
BTW, we are discussing what would happen/what we would decide if it was a family situation in regards to adoption and we decided that we would, if necessary, take up to 4 kids. We may be crazy but I couldn't break up a family.
I have had such a stressful morning. I'm working on researching an error that I made that wasn't caught, and determining its effects. This is for one of my managers and my director. In the midst of this project, my other manager calls and asks if I need more work because it doesn't seem like I have much going on. Once I explained what I was doing, she was fine, but it was still hectic because at that moment I was thinking it was a MAJOR error, but it turned out not to be so bad.
In other news, I just booked my hotel for this weekend. $55/night... I'm simultaneously proud and scared by this price. Here's hoping for clean sheets!
I can't tell you much either about real hardwood vs Engineered wood. My house had hardwood everywhere but the kitchen and bath and is original from the 50's. My mom just put hardwood everywhere in her house including the kitchen. However, they would not lay it in the bath as they said it will just get wet and warp.
You may want to talk to a realtor about recouping costs. They are usually happy to lend you some advice.
My concern is that you said the tile has cracked. Why did it crack? If it was installed improperly that is one thing. If your foundation has shifted, you need to get that first or it will screw up your hardwoods because your house will shift again!

Three-five of the tiles in the entry way cracked from this past summer. When I noticed them (August?), we went and bought soaker hoses. Bill says that he has a floating foundation (whatever that really means) so it's supposed to help prevent most of that.
Yeah, about that.....
As much as I would love to at some point if there was a book that I was interested in reading, I would never come after last week. And, to quote Forest Gump, that's all I have to say about that.
Well then we can always just plan for you to come over another time.

DH is obsessed with bamboo so I look forward to seeing your floors! What do you have in the kitchen and bathrooms? I want cork board in the kitchen.
I saw this but didn't click on it. Why does it appeal to you?
Deepthi,
I would love to come over some day to see your floors.
We have tile in the bathrooms, kitchen, and bar areas. It's way easier to clean and I actually don't mind not having carpet. It gets cold in the winter, but I have house shoes.

I thought the whole halftime show was kind of tacky. The set was spectacular, but that stunt certainly cheapened it. And I'm sorry, I don't care how phenomenal she looks--Madonna is too old to dance in 4" boots and pom poms.
