Valentines for kids Poll (daycare/school)

So I am new to this and have no idea what is the norm these days. My kids are almost 2 and their daycare class gives us the option of giving out Valentines to the other kids.

Do most people still give out just the paper store bought valentines?

Seems alittle silly since they can't read or write but they will enjoy the pictures.

Or do most people give out some kind of special valentine gift with card? Like those crayon hearts I know some people mentioned here.

I am trying to decided what to make or buy before Monday. Thanks!

Re: Valentines for kids Poll (daycare/school)

  • My kids are in real school (K and 2) so they write out their own paper Valentines we got at Target. They were in daycare as toddlers and all we did was send in a small treat for the V day party, no paper cards.
  • We just bought two boxes of Hello Kitty valentines from Target. Done and done.

ETA: We don't give K candy and the last thing we need is a small trinket, which is why we just do the paper cards. Any candy she gets either we'll eat (which we don't need) or if it's a trinket it'll get tossed.

  • We will do store bought ones. I suggested he make ones with me because he loves craft projects but he told me "No I don't want to take that much time". LOL.

But some parents give out full goodie bags filled with stuff.

Depending on the cards we buy they may have lollipops or playdoh or sticker or nothing. Depends on what he picks.

  • we've always done just paper cards - she chooses the character. this year, she chose one that came with a lollipop that gets inserted and her friends are 4-5yrs old so we went with it.

    we're not doing paper cards for Sam's class - they're 12-18mos old.

  • avery picked out Disney Princess cards from target (shocker LOL). they come with a lolipop, which i plan on giving to the teacher to use for her potty rewards, since idk if the parents will want their kids having them otherwise.

then they are also having a class party, so i am brining in a snack for that.

  • this year the paper cards are a big thing in G's class. They've been making mailboxes and decorating them for their card exchange.

I'm just sending in the card, but I can bet that she comes home with a goodie bag of crap from almost every kid in the class.

  • some kids just give paper valentines... we usually do something with a little candy on it... and a photo - since it's fun and cute and once they get older they won't let me do cute :) lol

this year i made ones i got ideas for on Pinterest.  Pics of Griffin holding his hand out- and sticking a lollie pop into it - so it looks like he's holding it...

and the twins has a few kissing pics of them (kissy faces) and will attach to a little bag with some hershey kisses in it.

I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.

  • I posted last week what I bought.  For $5 I got a pack of 20 mini Valentines play doh packs that included to/from stickers.  Easy Peasy.

  • Last year I did little bags of Teddy Grahams and animal crackers with a small card/tag stuck to them and will likely do something similar for both kids this year...no candy.

  • Paper valentines and heart-shaped soaps.

  • I voted Other. For Evan's room (Toddler) I am doing paper valentine's with lollipops attached.

For Stephanie (Pre K) Fun Dip packs!  Yup I am the mom who sugars up other people's kids. The Nesties would have a heart attack! Stick out tongue

  • We have done Valentine's for every year - I think last year she got 3 back out of a class of 18, she was 2.5.

This year we are doing cards (wrote them out on Sunday) and we are putting in vials of bubbles, got them from Oriental Trading.  I think they are like the ones for weddings, but the heart is red on the top.

For the party, I signed up for plates and napkins.  I also found cute lheart -shaped latex balloons that I will inflate for room decorations and the teachers can send home after the party.

  • In preschool we did a valentine card and a small treat. Now in Kindergarten they are not allowed to bring in ANYTHING besides a valentine card for their friends.
  • in years past i just did the paper valentine. But i find them to be not my style. it is so small and kids cant really read them.

this year i went to michaels craft store and bought a pack of big foam hearts (about the size of my hand) and bought a pack of assorted valentine foam stickers. my kids have been working on decorting them to give out, they get to be creative, it gives them something to do, and i like it better than the paper things. it did not cost much more $$ since i used coupons to buy the 2 things.

there are lots of kids who give out candy/goody bags with the cards.
