I need to stop putting him down for a nap don't I?

Caleb still naps. Usually for around 2 hours a day from 12:30/1-2:30/3. He takes FOREVER to go to sleep at night. We put him down around 7:30 and doesnt fall asleep till 8:30 or even as late as 9 some nights..

and he's up again before 6 a.m... which in turn is waking B up in the morning.

I really dread doing this since my "me" time is VERY important to me.. esp since C has been particularly challenging lately. AND I use that time to get my workouts in.

I need to bite the bullet right?

Re: I need to stop putting him down for a nap don't I?

  • how is he if you wake him from a nap? maybe try to let him nap only an hour and see how that goes - he gets downtime and you get your time too for a bit.

but, if both kids went to bed early, you'd have the evening to yourself.

  • I don't know. Daycare still tries for nap time but M hasn't napped most days for a long time now. And he's just as bad as Calen at bedtime. Sometimes he's still talking at 10!
  • For almost the last year, Marcus has been lights out at 9:00 and up at 6.  We start bedtime at 8:15-8:30ish...if he doesn't get his nap, he's a bear by 2:30-3:00.  I know he's not ready because he can't last until 7 without a nap.  While I hate that he's not in bed before 9, it works for us.

  • Maybe try a shorter nap? Or just resting on the couch, maybe suggle time with you? Brian only falls alseep on the couch if he was up really early (5-6am). If Gavn naps during the day - I only let him nap for 1 hour b/c same thing he is UP.ALL.NIGHT!

B & G sleep in the same room & go to bed around 8pm, if no one has napped they are asleep by 8:30!!!

  • Will he be in K for a whole day? if so, I would start to phase his naps out- start waking him earlier and earlier- and can you make it a game to work out with you? or will he sit on your bed and vegg for a bit each afternoon-

  • Griffin turns 5 in march and still naps most days... some days he isn't tired but still lays in his bed for about an hour before he can get up.

we put griffin to bed around 8-8:30 and he typically wakes at 6:30am.... even when he doesn't nap- or when he does. It doesn't change his bed/wake time.

I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.

  • i think so yes. belle naps at daycare and i had them only do it for an hour because she's IIMPOSSIBLE at night. but if she was at home no napping.

if he's going to go to full day kindergarden next year he needs to get used to it too

    sorry

  • I was thinking the same thing about him starting K, but I honestly don't know if it's full day yet or not. He has placement testing next week and I guess that will determine how long he goes..?

And my child doesn't know how to "chill out" or "relax." He only came with two settings, "full speed" and "stop" Lol
